[PS3] Infamous

No :p

Anyway, I call it "Random Acts of Kindness" to people I don't/barely know. Usually it comes around because I have something I don't want anymore or, as in this case, put a couple of bids in on eBay, go to work and hope that my max wins one of them. This time it was two ;) A false economy, paying almost double for a game in an effort to save a couple of quid. ;)

Recently I gave away 12 months Live to a poster at Eurogamer :/

Anyway RR, if you want the game, PM me your address details and I'll look into how quickly I could get the game to you.

WoW !I can't believe it ! I hope u r not a virus program used to get people's addresses !
Man, seriously, are u really offering to send it to me :D !
YGPM !

WoW ! He is really sending it to me next week ! :D This got to be the most unique and wonderful thing happened in all of my Internet existence !

 u Rotmm ! :p

Wonder how thats going to work.

Hopefully they don't go down the route of assuming you chose to be good as the starting point.

Expected, still great news though.

All roads lead to Rome, especially in Infamous.

I'm gonna speculate that at the beginning of the game Cole will loose most of his powers.

Just finished this game, picked it up for $40 new from Amazon.ca a bit ago.

It started out really fresh-feeling and fantastic. By near the end of the game it started to lose a lot of its appeal and I found myself just wishing I would finish it already. I did 100% of the sidequests and the main quest.

The main problem was the repetitive nature of the side quests, I think. I just started getting the feeling of "more of the same" quite frequently. I also frequently found myself fumbling with the controls and the climbing mechanism getting in my way. It was maddening to be doing the satellite uplink quests and have every millisecond count in my speed, only to have the guy "grip" onto a nearby ledge instead of simply jumping past it. I was never able to do some of the stunts because of the nature of the control scheme -- for example, shooting someone from the air and then thunder-dropping onto them -- I could never aim fast enough and zap them and trigger the drop. Most of the time I'd miss or I'd hit and get a headshot, and then when trying to thunderdrop I'd throw a grenade right where I'm landing and kill myself...

That said, a very good game. I started out at around a 9.5 for me and finished around an 8.

It's now "officially" $39.99 and the Gamestop pre-order "Gigawatt Blades" will be free DLC.

And one special final note, we’d like to send out congratulations to Sucker Punch Productions as inFAMOUS has sold over 1.2 million copies as of October 2009 – congrats guys!

Not bad, I suppose. Although I thought it had a pretty good marketing push behind it. Perhaps it will have legs that carry over through the holidays.

I also have problem completing open world games.

I think I'm half way through in inFamous. Loved the side missions, like the one where I escorted 5 grunts to the police station. That was rather entertaining.

May be I'll go back after Y3.

I've finished infamous recently. It's pretty nice being all powered up and zipping across town like an unstoppable force of nature.

The auto aim is a bit extreme for my tastes. There were moments when I pushed the stick left but the game moved my cursor to the right (onto some enemy that was determined to be my most likely target I reckon). I never felt like I got the hang of the controls and could aim effectively. If the response to any given input keeps changing all the time, there's nothing to adjust to.

The first inFamous was basically done on an existing, multi-platform ready engine. In that respect, inFamous 2 could be really interesting - if they optimise it for the PS3 this time, it would be one of the very few (maybe even only on PS3?) platform exclusive open-world game that is optimised for that platform (as, again, inFamous 1 wasn't).

I am curious too!
Although one should be sceptical...as they don't had too much time to write a new engine! Especially considering that they are not such a big company...looking at Sony's first party devs, they sometimes needed 4+ years for their first game (and I am not talking about Polyphony here ;))!

No, but they'll have been embedded in the Sony developer network to some extent. There is a lot of wheels lying around that do not need reinventing. We don't know the release date, and definitely some of the tech research would have started when the first game was being produced.

What I hope for Infamous 2:

-make it more varied...the side missions were rather boring as there are only like 5 different types. After 1 third of the game...I basically skipped them. And, I only liked one of em (iirc, escorting prisoners to jail or something like this).

-the thing I liked most was the great story. although, it was good at the beginning of the game..then staled a little bit in the middle and got super interesting at the end - maybe they could keep players interested throughout the game somehow (this is a general problem for open world games, at least in my opinion)!

-if they are smart, they incorporate a online co-op mode for the campaign. in episode 2, they have the chance to introduce new characters - so be smart and do it!

I just thought about Evolution Studies as an example. MS2 had some great ligthning going on, but was not a tech showcase overall. A lot of people felt a little bit dissapointed when comparing the game to MS1...

It would also be cool if they could incorporate an Oblivion type structure (one of the best games I played!).

In Oblivion you had the main story, and then you had a lot of different side quest stories. So not only isolated side quests, but whole side stories...this would be cool. In Oblivion, you could also do the side stories after beating the main mission - this was really great and extended the gameplay like for ever. It also is a smart way to prevent getting boring: if you don't like the main story...do one of the side stories instead!!
(I now, I now...but everyone can dream, right?)

Really, which one? I've tried to dig around, but all I found was speculation that there might be some Uncharted in there, because of a couple tiny similarities. That, and a whole lot of car motor issues. I find that hard to believe though. The Uncharted engine thing, not the car motors ;)

Wait, wut? That's still one of the most impressive looking racers of all time, by a mile.

I'm willing to bet that pretty much none of those people played the final game then? Presumably based their opinions on that very first demo, which probably did the game no favors.

Motorstorm 2 is a marvel to look at, and a great technological showpiece. It holds up extremely well so far - only a little while I recommended it to london-boy as a game you can still play after God of War 3 without being disappointed by the graphics!

@Rolf N: there was an interview with the developers of inFamous that mentioned this. I don't know if I can still find it, but I'll try.
