We have enough of negativity towards PS3 why it is time to think about the glass is half full.
I will start.

PS3 is a very complex hardware to build but Sony managed to pull it off. A phrase from Apple i love is "It just works!" I know of CE hardware that went through bug fixes after the first unit is sold. Compare to first gen Bluray players PS3 blows them away. I would not call HD-A1 and BDP-1000 HD players with features locked out.

My JVC Digital Hybrid Amp has to be returned because it blew up after 3 months. It had a known fault for all models overheating. JVC came out a revision 02 productline and moderated the heat the next year.
My MS Digital Subwoofer has a fuse with incorrect ratings. I had to swap mine i was lucky i did not encounter a dead sub that many online users did.
My Dell monitor FPW2407 is a revision A01. It has known banding issues and 1080p HDCP signals will not work. I will fight for my replacement within my 5 years advanced warranty. I can't upgrade the firmware myself.
My mates 360 were sent back and forth to Microsoft service centres. I am lucky again to sit out on 360.

phew and there is my list of experiences with CE hardware, what are yours? :)

First, what is CE supposed to be? If you're talking about the compliance sticker, that's just a formality without any serious meaning behind it nowadays.

As for the topic, pretty much EVERY piece of new hardware will be released without being 100% tested and even with known failures etc. due to tight schedules driving the development. In most cases, noone even notices that and if it becomes a wide-spread problem, the usual tactics with swaps and new revisions is applied. Nothing new, happens in every tech-laden industry regularly (cars, for example). It certainly won't disappear tomorrow either.

I don't see why the PS3 deserves any real recognition on the hardware side. It is a mish mash of equipment that has not been very well designed to work together. It's so inefficient anyone with any technical knowledge should not look highly on it's design.

To the thread starter: threads like this aren't quite what B3D's console talk forum is about. I'd suggest browsing some existing threads to get a feel for the place before your next opening gambit, lest your rep and ability to post become somewhat less than you'll likely enjoy.

To the regulars who decided the thread was worth a directed response: you guys know better :runaway:

Locked.
