PS3 Backwards Compatibility.

It seems like BC will be provided through emulation, so does that mean we can expect a IQ increase for PS1/PS2 games? If this is the case, do you see games made for the PS2 look much better on the PS3 because of this?

In a way it reminds me of the exact wording MS had on 360 BC, it seemed to imply top titles rather than universal BC with the original console library. I could be reading too much into it though.

Emulation? then you can expect it to only work with certain games.

Well that is the general consensus around here. But I'm more excited about games that are going to come out on the PS2 in the near future(FFXII), those probably would make sure that they are playable on the PS3. That would look much better with extra help from PS3 from a IQ point of view.

I think since it's been confirmed that it PS3 will be backwards compatible all the way back to PSone, I'm pretty certain that it's more than just "top titles".

I suspect MS is only going to test and guarantee the emulation with top tier games.

I wonder if PS3 will have regulary "Bios updates" until they get it right. But then, as much as we know, they couldve inlcuded EE and GS in hardware.
(I hope not though, atleast not GS with its poor mipmapping)
