PS2 vs. GC

Is the GC have an overall advantage over the ps2 in power and feature set?

I know this may be a dumb question, but I've always wondered how easily/precisely DMC 1-3 could be ported to the gamecube. Anyone have any idea?

When I played DMC 1 and 3, I thought the PS2 had an advantage. When I played RE4 and MP1, I thought the Gamecube was more powerful, so I can't say for sure which one's more powerful.

The gamecube is definitely more efficient, but at some costs, like less disc space to reduce loading times.

The ps2 sounds like it has the better overall feature set and more raw power to me, due to the fact that the GC doesn't use lossless TC like the DC did, and the GC no higher than a 24 bit frame buffer.

I always found it so odd that nintendo always boasted about the super nes having more colors than the genesis, yet all of their systems succeeding the super nes have less on-screen colors than the competition. The nintendo 64 was limited to 32,768 onscreen colors, and the gamecube was limited to 262,144 on screen colors if alpha blending was to be used.

That's kind of why I wish consoles would be abolished; I'll never see another metroid game that meets my tech demands. Fortunately, metroid is the only nintendo franchise I really cared about that much. I was always more of a sega guy (i loved beyond oasis and legend of oasis, while I wasn't nearly as crazy about Zelda, and I liked Nights into dreams more than the over-rated game it went up against Super Mario 64.)
