Project Cars [PS4, XO]

I thought wheel support was game dependent on the consoles (not system wide like windows)
the DFGT is supported in this game on windows along with more or less every wheel out there including really old ones llike the microsoft sidewinder wheel (great wheel btw) and the original logitech force also thrustmaster and fanatec wheels. It also has a custom wheel config and custom controller config

No, in this case it is also system wide - Logitech stopped making wheels, and the new consoles require the USB connection to be secured. Logitech stopped making wheels before that requirement, and currently there is no solution. So basically there's a certain cut-off date before which none of the then produced wheels work with the next-gen consoles.

So all modern Thrustmaster and Fanatec wheels work, but none of the Logitech wheels made it to next-gen. And as they have been the most popular especially among PS3 gamers (Xbox 360 was relatively closed off in terms of options in comparison, because they had some restrictions in place already).

Really look forward to trying this in Project Cars on PC now!

Also just tried 3D on this for the first time, and that's actually really nice too. Makes judging the corners much easier, and unlike in GT6, I can keep it at 1080p60 no problem.

Logitech stopped making wheels
They are still selling the Driving Force GT and the g27 on their website
ps: what do you mean secured? Physically secured like a locking mechanism or the device has some sort of security built in ?

Some encrypted/authentication/handshake thingy needs to be done between the usb device and the console.

VVV suggests the handling turned out really well in the end, so this is now a fairly sure thing for me. He also ran it on three screens on PC on Medium settings.

Watching those helmet cams it looks stunning and that helmet + DOF effect is very immersive.
Its even better with track-ir imagine moving your head to look around

That's a bit extreme for a peripheral - i assume it exists so only companies that have paid a fee will have their pads/wheels work with the ps4

Sony should make gyro support mandatory for racing games
Its available on the p.c version if you want it

One aspect is certainly the additional licensing revenue. But it also presumably allows them to guarantee a certain level of quality and compatibility. If an accessory doesn't meet minimum levels of each, they won't get a license and thus access to the security protocols.

An unscrupulous hardware manufacturer could, of course, then reduce the quality of components and thus quality of the controller after getting a license. But then the hardware manufacturer would have the option to revoke the license and blacklist the security key that was issued to that manufacturer, if they desired.

SB

Should be the accented letter: é
You learn something new everyday. You are like the Joan of Arc, la pucelle d'Orleans when it comes to accents. It's quite surprising you found that. Vive La Belle France ! Toujours l'amour ! :)

Developers show a new video, this time it's the turn of the Xbox One version, final preview.

PS4 version have "ghosting" problem, if you pause video from the PS4 version, it's clear to see, it looks like two frames blended together ... it's not so obvoius to the naked eye when playing the game, but they should remove it for extra clarity.

Has it been confirmed for gameplay? Most of the time we're seeing replays (even when they are in-car). It's been a known 'problem' for replays afaik.

Car list is pretty basic...

Guess I'll be waiting an aeon for GT7 to come out - unless I buy an XB1 and get Forza.

One free new car each month for two years apparently. Car list is ok for me, as long as I like the way the cars drive, then the track-list makes up for it. The better the driving experience, the fewer cars I need, really. I was driving a 458 in Assetto Corsa yesterday, and that was such a great experience. What a joy to drive!.

The online in that game though - I tried it for the first time yesterday and it was a constant vote to kick fest. Horrible.

Is that those 6 minutes that show the new PS4 Steam integration? ;) (yep - see about 1:28)

(i.e. this is the PC version - this guy uploaded a whole bunch of videos with the same title and description)
