Project Assasin impression at GDC

From a dev that posts at GAF.

So I went to the Project Assasins design theory session today at GDC and Ubi Montreal really has their shit together. While not the most impressive looking game at GDC, the game mechanics were awesome. They were really going for a real-world feel, showing demos of your character running through a crowded city, bumping into people, automatically pushing people out of the way, stumbling when someone pushes back. It was amazing to see even in its early state.
They also showed how they mapped all positions of climbing up walls, and how they used IK to allow the animation to smoothly transition from one place to grab to another. It was amazing to see live.

they showed gameplay, but they were on the PC (videos from the PC, nothing shown real on stage, it was a powerpoint presentation), but they were 'test levels' or what they called 'gyms'. They had a demo where you were in a castle like city center and you jump and kill someone and run away from various knights.
It was really amazing the movement level they are going for.

Also the game only uses 5 buttons and the left control stick. R trigger accelerates your movement, X is jump, Y is view mode, A is attack, and B is for talking / activating.

Sounds like this one will be a hit. Oh and it's 3rd person too.
