THis isn't a big deal and it may just be a bad part but i have a memory stick pro from scan disk its a 256meg. It doesn't seem to work . The 32 meg duo that came iwth it does though. Am i wrong that the memory stick pros are supposed to work ? Of do you think mabye the stick is wrong ? It works in my camera though

It has to be DUO format. Sucks I know, cause I got a 256mb memory stick PRO for my Clie that I can't use on my new PSP come thursday :(

really ? my camera takes both though in the same slot :(

Oh well haha guess i will use the 32 meg one that came with it : -)

As the regular PRO stick is twice as long as the DUO, it wouldn't take a genius to figure out a PRO stick would not work on a device that's designed for DUO ;)
A PRO DUO sticks do work on PSP, and DUO sticks work on devices that use non DUO cards, you just use the adapter.

Basically, the MS are like this:

MS (normal one, long variety)
MS Pro (faster, same shape as the MS)
MS DUO (smaller)
MS DUO Pro (smaller and faster)

MS DUO's and DUO Pro's will work on any device becasue there is a small adapter thing that makes them fit on normal MS slots. However, devices that can only take the DUO ones won't be able to take the normal ones simply because the slot isn't long enough. I think PSP is one such device.
I'm sure i've seen slots that can take both formats though.

Don't forget the MS DUO Pro HIGH SPEED (smaller and even faster). ;)

I wouldn't be surprised if they started selling PSP MS DUO's. Exactly the same as the MS DUO's but more expensive, and people will buy the "PSP" ones thinking they work better than the non-PSP ones. Think about it, makes sense.... :devilish: I'm evil i know, i have 666 on my head. I should never be a CEO in a big corporation.

The new SanDisk Gaming Memory Card line turns a handheld game device into a fully loaded multimedia entertainment unit. The product line includes Memory Stick PRO Duo for Sony's PSP (Playstation Portable) as well as SD cards for games with an SD slot such as Gizmondo, or Tapwave Zodiac. For maximum performance and to get the most out of all the advanced features on the device, you'll need a SanDisk Game Card. With SanDisk, you will be able to save your game levels, listen to digital music, play your favorite video, and download and store game cheat codes, characters and game skins. SanDisk game cards maximize your world of entertainment.

To their credit, SanDisk aren't charging a premium. Just providing neon coluors.

I cant remember where I saw it, but there was a review of the memory sticks and the san disk ones were actually a hair faster than the "1st party" sony ones. go figure.

They didn't develop it exclusivly, but they are are patent holder on the technology (along with Sony), actually SanDisk is pretty much involved (patent wise) with just about every format...

Don't forget the MS DUO Pro HIGH SPEED (smaller and even faster).

High Speeds are just Duo Pros that support the parallel transfer interface...

doenst' that equal faster ?

they cost alot more over here

for example

Sony Memory Stick 256MB MS PRO DUO € 49,00
Sony Memory Stick 512MB MS PRO DUO € 82,00
Sony Memory Stick 256MB MS PRO High Speed € 78,00
Sony Memory Stick 512MB MS PRO High Speed € 120,00
