my last upgrade was a GF4 Ti4600 a year ago and set me back 450 €. Still, I got lucky, the Gainward card I bought retailed for 500+ when it finally hit the market but I got a new one of eBay early on for measly 450 €.
Anyway, I'm ready to spend another 450 € and maybe even 500 €, but noone seems to want my money as there are no high-end dual DVI-I out cards available or even announced, yet.
