There are rumours going around that the GPU will get an unveiling soon, very soon

Does anybody know for sure?

I guess they have to find someone to license the tech first.

How about Intel ?

They've apparently already licensed some stuff for the mobile/handheld sector:

Oh, and almost forgot, here's another one that crosses his fingers :)

I had thought of them, but the rumour is that they are using ATi tech for Grantsdale. So I doubt they would pick it up (though it would be very nice if they did!)

But the "mobile" chip is competeting with Ati's mobile solutions so i don't see why that should stop them. Assuming that the rumours are true that is.

I hear whispers about Series 5 in the next month/month and a half... *runs around in circles until he gets dizzy and passes out* :D

There is a possibility that this rumour may become reality as long as Nappe1 doesnt jinx PVR5 by posting ;)

would be nice to see PowerVR Series 5 GPUs soon.

would be the very first desktop, arcade (NAOMI 3) and perhaps future console(?) full graphics processor with on-board geometry processing / T&L / VS from the PowerVR camp to get released.

Series 4 had on-board T&L / VS but of course it got scrapped....

Didn't they already get a license partner in Sega (Sega chose the PowerVR5 for use in their next arcade hardware)?

I mean, it's just arcade hardware, but it gives PVR a market to actually have the PowerVR5 hardware made. Without at least SOMEBODY using it, I think it would just sit on the shelf.

*runs around dizzy and giddy like a little school boy...*

Here's to hoping for a third party to come out of nowhere and steal the thunder. 8)

I know for a fact that there are working PVR PC-chips with 32 pipes.

(OK, that's 32 z-pipes, and it's a few years old. :))

BTW, does anyone know how fast eDRAM can be nowadays? And if there's anyone with cached eDRAM, so you can have multiple pages open in the same bank. That's the only thing missing for a realy nice shading TBDR design. (In a way that I think is nice, not saying that there aren't other ways.)

And another thing. Has anyone seen any additions to DX9 where you can say that a rendertarget will be used as a framebuffer-aligned texture for the same frame, and then be discarded? That would be a rather nice thing to have for a high end TBDR.
