Physics Question

Hi,

Sorry, I just want to ask a question regarding the X1950XT PCI-e.

I'm buying a new PC(RD600 crossfire dual PCI-e) and plan to buy a R600 when it comes out. Problem is i'll need a graphics card until I buy the R600 so plan to buy the X1950XT PCI-e.

1) Will I be able to use the X1950XT PCI-e as a physics card seperately to the R600?

2) Will I be able to run the future QX6850 or higher CPU's on the RD600(specifically the DFI LANParty UT ICFX3200-T2R/G) without an issues?

Heres my uneducated thoughts on the matter

yes technically you will be able to run physics on the x1950
but in reality there wont be any physics to run, maybe one day, but in the next 2 years i dont think physics on a 2nd gfx card will be taken advantage of in any major way by game devs

ps: wouldnt 2 X1950XT's equal a r600 performance wise ???

Yes, but 2x X1950XT does not have DX10.

Also, if I get 2x R600 and use X1950XT as physics, then I think that'll be optimal and be DX10.

*note: I try to always plan my PC to last at least 3 years.

Well I got myself a QX6600 with Asus P5W DH Delux, 3 gig DDR 2 800 memory(gonna get myself an extra gig), a X1950XT and a LG 204WT 20" Monitor.

Guess that drops the physics part of my question.

Well .. erm .. I don't think so. The R600 is said to be able to do Physics.

The DFI LANPARTY UT ICFX3200-T2R/G that I wanted to get has three PCI-e slots at 16x(or 2x16, 1x2) and the third is said to be used for Physics(if you read the reviews).

Then I was told that there was no stock(locally) so then got the P5W DH Delux hence the fact that Physics is outta the question unless future drivers will allow one R600 with a lesser card to do physics.

physics on the second card looks like vaporware to me and would better be suited to a DX 10 card anyway
