PGR3 @ 30fps

nobody has heard anything about this forma reliable source. it's another anon source quotes by PSM magazine. Imo the fact it came form PSM magazine is telling.

Bear in mind that Xenos can suck a full 10GB/s worth of vertex data out of Xenon and render it. It's sort of similar to how PC games are often CPU-bound because of the polygon count - although that's a complex subject.

Anyway, the key point seems to be that the Xenon can only keep up with Xenos by dedicating a core to graphics rendering.

If you look at:

you'll see most of the multi-threading techniques use a graphics-specific thread - it's fairly easy to partition, especially if rendering lags gameplay by one frame/tick.

So, it seems credible to me that one core of Xenon should be dedicated to Xenos.

Problem is, they're not. Ever seen Return of the King on the big screen? Some parts were so choppy they almost ruined the whole experience for me.
Agreed - I believe people continually refer to the frame rate of film as some sort of "standard" just because they're used to it. Really watch any kind of scene pan in a film - chop, chop, chop. We don't freak out about it because unless you see a lot of iMax films, there's nothing to compare it to.

Hopefully they'll get 60fps, I really notice the difference in racing games - and yes, I did in PGR2. Motion blur 'aint enough.

Seriously?

Are there any comment or articles you could link for me Jawed?? I haven't heard anything of the sort... well the closest I've heard is the arbiter in the Xenos might not be so hot so devs are kinda just locking the Xenos as, say, all pixel sahder and using a core as geometry, but that was a real ooold rumor. Anyway, I'd love read whatever you have on that, speculation be darned. My appreciation in advance.

I believe that rumor was started by David Kirk in a Nvidia interview post E3.

Therefore repeating such rumors is about as accurate as quoting KK about the Xbox 360 really only being "Xbox 1.5". ;)
