on the traces of nanostray

ok, it looks like all parties involved in the launch claim they've done their part, and yet the game has not reached the shelves almost 10 days after its oficial launch date. any insights?

I bought a copy from Ebay UK which was shipped to me from the US. The game is out somewhere. Have you tried Ebay US?

nope, maybe i should. for the record, the game is nowhere to be found in toronto, and my inquery at gamerama (who otherwise are known for getting things early/importing stuff) was rather disheartening. of course liksang and play-asia have it already for ~$60CAD.

btw, the game is available at amazon right now. i just got a copy from there. impressions so far: if you like vertical shooters the game is a jewel [ed: for an Ika fan not getting nanostray is an act of self-disgrace]. would have been a hot seller if it ever reached shelves. man, gotta love the game industry..

ed: after a couple of days of carrying my ds with nanostray in it, and observing the reactions of everybody who have played it in front of me (practically everybody of my surrounding who have seen it), i can positively say that that game is a system seller.

ed': a good review of the game - pay attention to the emotional state of the reviewer who apparently has gotten an unhealthy dose of exposure to the game : )

Review - LOTS of text, no pictures.
Easier to show visual things with images than with words.
Does one have to write quite this much for a shooting game anyway? :D

Wonder if this title'll ever make it out here in europe...

Sounds like a great game for portables. Too bad they didn't use the microphone to manage inventory/weapon switching. Bad, bad idea to use the touchscreen imo.

Wouldn't that kinda bother people close to you when playing in public? For example in a library.

it would have been neat if it was available as an option (voice operated on-board-computer-style), alas it could have been too much computationally intensiove and impact the framerate. as things are now with the weapons control scheme, one can afford switching weapons only at relatively idle moments, which are not that often. realistically, they could have used some button combinations just as well (say through the left shoulder button and the y button which are not utilized properly now).

btw, a big plus about this game - single-copy wireless multiplayer. now i just need to find another ds in my close surroundings : )

Sure. But how does Nintendogs handle this?

At the very least it could have been a (far superior) option like Darkblu mentions. But maybe it's too CPU intensive like he also said.
