Official E3 Sony Conference Thread 2010

i hear you my good man... I'm hoping all the shooters of 2010 and 2011 implement MOVE pointer controls as an option.

I suppose that'd probably be cost-prohibitive however for the titles with an online MP component (i.e. every one made these days), as the devs would likely have to spend time creating a separate play-mode to ensure MOVE & non-MOVE players aren't playing together, i.e. effectively two separate MP's for the two play-modes... hence most likely very unlikely unless some Sony bucks are exchanged ;-)

This is why I feel that their findings in Socom 4 should be published.

Folks thought this conference was boring huh? Amusing.

All in the delivery. The script seemed so forced. Butler just seemed like an automaton. Speech speech, introduction... to introduce next guy... then game.... Clap........... clap....next.

tiger woods. Let's golf for 10-15 min. I get it. PS Move works with golf.

"I LOVE GAMES" + speech *cough* ............................. You mean, "MY NAME IS JOE AND I AM CANADIAN* commercial.

speech speech... more drag-on speech.

Highlight for me was the LBP2 presentation with Alex. He just went through the features with no filler speech. Straight to the point.

No Ape Escape "On the Move" (as dubbed by me)?

And why no Portal 2 + Move + 3D? If ever there was a title well suited for both of those technologies, that seems to be it.

DVRed the Nintendo and Sony conferences. As dry as Sony's was, after Reggie, Jack seems like a natural public speaker.

I also have a niggling concern that 3D will be shoehorned into titles where it probably otherwise wouldn't be implemented if left solely up to the developers. But thats the graphics whore in me being squeamish about any IQ comprises to make it work (comprises on the non-3d enabled version of games as well).

Man Furismo Jive trailer was quite nice. But I don't see why they even bother with release dates anymore (for any GT title, ever, until it goes gold).

Have they revealed any GT5 online details ?

Outside of what's in Prologue and the ambiguous "community" and "online racing experience" comments? Not so far as I'm aware. Arwin and Antan have probably kept better track of that than I have, however.

Where are these games?

Resistance 3?

Starhawk?

Singstar Dance?

Last Guardian?

and where are the other 3rd party games? rage? Irrational studio's games?

Nooooooooooooo ! :( Rawr

But how can this be? They showcased Never-seen R1 footage in their FullMoon SHow Ep51 just last week, seemed like a buildup for R3 as they showcased the different ideas they had tried before making R1 the way it was. :(

I was dead sure we would see R3, gameplay of Infamous 2, The Last Gaurdian, LBP 2 at E3. How can we not have Resistance 3 ?!?!?! I was so dying to see what look they have chosen for R3, the FUll Moon SHow had upped my speculation even more. It was my big Reveal T_T !

Ha ha... good thing I don't listen to podcasts. We still have other shows ahead of us. Really doubt they are going to show R3 since they should be focusing on their next game instead. Come on, good cross platform game is not easy to make.

Not the podcast patsu, its on Youtube ! THey have shown concept videos of early Project I-8 ! ITs very very coool :D ! Resistance was almost HALO with big Mechs walking down urban areas, but it had the same R1 colours. Watch it now ! Insomniac games had put it on their twitter feed ! The name of the channel is "Insomgames" ! You'll find it easily !

BTW< even Sony had said that they are looking forward to Insomniac's next exclusive. It all hinted at R3 ! :(

Some complained that the Sony conference is too long winded. May be they took out stuff at the last minute and then padded the speech. It's not the first time this happens. ^_^

There are two teams patsu, and it's likely that the new IP won't release until 2012 at the earliest.

Yeah, if they want polish, then it's either a bigger team or longer time.

Regarding cross game chat, we have more news now:
http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/15/cross-game-party-chat-coming-to-ps3-with-strings-attached/

Finally (also: BINGO)! Cross-game chat is coming to the PlayStation Network! After what seems like years of demand, Sony has announced cross-game chat, which allows PSN members to talk to each other, even while playing different games. However, the oft-demanded feature does come with one large caveat: chats can only be initiated by PlayStation Plus members.

PlayStation Plus members will be able to send invites to any member of the PlayStation Network, free or paid. Up to four PSN members can be in a party chat, however at least one participant must be a member of PlayStation Plus. The chat will discontinue if all paying members disconnect.

I think friends may pool their $$$ together to subscribe to one PSN+ account.

EDIT:
According to here: http://www.psu.com/news/9241

UPDATE 2: A Sony rep has informed us that cross-game voice chat "was not announced as part of PlayStation Plus," which we understand as a 'no further information or direct comment at this time' sort of thing. Perhaps we'll hear more in the near future.

Looks like they are sorting out the policies.

PS3 Firmware 3.40 coming soon:
http://www.thegameraccess.com/news/ps3/ps3-firmware-340-revealed

After reading through a couple press releases, I found something very interesting in the PlayStation Plus press release. At the bottom of this press release it says:

"PlayStation users can purchase PlayStation Plus membership through PlayStation Store on PS3 only. Users need to install PS3 system software version 3.40, which will be released on June 22nd, to enjoy PlayStation Plus."

Nothing new!!?!?!?! Didn't you see the demonstration for that new game Sorcery?!? :-S
UI mentioned that already. Yes, it's very cool and original (well, beyond HP on Wii) and is one of the ideal title for Move, but it's showing stuff we'd seen demo'd a year or three previously. So new, but expected.

Frustratingly, it got such a little time slot! they could have talked 15 minutes of LBPs showing all sorts of stuff, but instead we had 15 minutes of golf. they should have shown Move in LBP2 creating stuff. That would have been awesome. Get a little kid who's unable to use the current primitives and analogue stick to draw to intuitively use the Move and show how the accessibility of Move throws open the creative gates of LBP. People should have left that conference abuzz with ideas of the potential, instead of a memory of a catalogue of titles which will get their marketing anyway.

I'm curious how the RTS stuff will work -- via the analog sticks? Secret move support? Either way, I imagine there'll be stories on LBP2 later this week.

A good conference. If they had revealed the games they showed prior to E3 at E3 it would of been a show stopper but i suppose the only people who care about that are fanboys. Move is going to be HUGE both with the hardcore and the casual crowd.
