Official 9800pro specs "leaked" by FIC

Want to get excited enough to wet your pants?????

FIC is now producing a huge range of advanced video cards based on ATI technology. New additions to the range include the A98 and A98P based on the ATI Radeon 9800 and 9800 Pro graphics engines respectively. The A98 and A98P both feature 400MHz RAMDAC, 8 pipeline architecture, 256 bit data width, 512Kb of serial flash ROM, AGP 8X/4X/2X compatibility, TV-out, support for simultaneous dual displays and DirectX 9.0/OpenGL support. In addition, the A98 will support 128MB of DDR memory and a core/memory clock speed of 325/310MHz. The A98P will support up to 256MB of DDR memory and has a core/memory clock speed of 400/460MHz.
Radeon 9800pro

-400mhz
-8 pipelines
-460mhz Ram (920mhz effective)
-30GB raw bandwidth.
-Pixel shader 2.1+ (virtually unlimited instruction lengths)

Now hows that for a serious GFFX ultra ASS whipping Card??

Why are you saying thats not correct????

Just curious.

EDIT: ohhh you are making a joke about wetting your pants.. hehehe.
Sorry im a stooge.. ;)

ram speed?

I'm not surprised by 400mhz core clock, but 460 mhz memory is much more than expected. Is it accurate or a typo? I didn't expect anything higher than 350...

That seems to be a huge step from the R9800 to the R9800Pro, and I'm sure it will cost a lot. R9800 seems to replace the R9700Pro with identical clockspeeds.
I wonder how big the gap will be between that card and the R9600/Pro. If I'd buy a card now, I'd look for something slightly more powerful than a R9500Pro, but less expensive than a R9700. Hopefully they manage to fill that gap.

No such thing as PS 2.1. :D 2.0 extended, yes. Ok. . . just a nitpick. . . ;)

Still, Pixel Shader versions don't indicated limits to shader lengths, merely the minimum requirements.

Yes, interesting. So they might be trying to phase the R300 out fast in favor of RV350 and R350 products. I wonder where that puts the 9500 Pro /non pro?

I'm suspecting that the R350 replaces the Radeon 9700, while the RV350 replaces the 9500.

Hmmm...just doesn't seem right to me.

Even forgetting about the cost of "400+ Mhz DDRI/II" for a minute....would it even make sense to offer higher memory clocks than the core?

I would be very happy to see a 400 Mhz core clock for the 9800 Pro, though I am expecting that whatever the core clock is, the memory clock will be at MOST, equal to that of the core clock.

All of the 375/350 rumors seem most plausible to me, though I would love to be pleasantly surprised with something like 400/385. 400/460 just seems like someone's wires got crossed somewhere...

Well I've already said what I think. :)

Could be 400/360MHz with 256MB DDR-II. Just a guess.

:?:

MuFu.

Maybe FIC will release a 'modified' R350.

If there is indeed an R350 DDR2 sample going around, what's to stop companies like FIC actually releasing it?

I remember a comment from ATI a while ago when people were asking for a R200 MAX. ATI said that they were not going to release one, but it would be possible and upto the card makers if they wanted to release one.

At 325/310 the 9700 Pro is (slightly) more fillrate than bandwidth limited, so a part at 400/360 would still be quite balanced, and probably a good deal cheaper.

Isn't the 'slowest' DDR-II available now spec'ed for 450MHz?

So, you guys are saying the RAm is a Typo.. im guessing.

It must be 360???

Just a guess.. it seems more likely than the 6 being wrong..
