NVIDIA Tegra Architecture

So i dont see how its anywhere near the same timeframe as S800. If anything its closer to the 2014 designs Qualcomm will show at CES

Middle of 2013 could be July or August. End of 2013 could be November or December. Either way we are talking about what amounts to just a few months.

"with most devices appearing in Q1 of 2014."

Tegra4i could be commercially available in November but most of the devices will take another 2 months before appearing? You are stretching it here

so why are here then??

Speculation is fine, but baseless speculation is what you are doing when making claims about performance superiority of Adreno 330 and when making claims about insuitability of Cortex A15 when used in 4+1 or big.LITTLE configurations.

Do you not expect "most" Snapdragon 800 devices to appear in Q4 of 2013? You are the one who is really stretching things here in suggesting that two SoC's that come out a few months apart from each other are not competing against each other.

Its not completely baseless at all...tega 4..the one with 72 alus pulls 32fps on non final clocks gl benchmark 2.5.

Snapdragon 600s...with lpddr3 (as apposed to htc one lpddr2) pulls 40+ fps..that is good old adreno 320.

So..with qualcomm them self saying adreno 330 is from 50%-2x more powerfull than adreno 320 depending on work load and grey using a cut down (60?) Alus on unknown clocks. which one would you hedge your bets on??

Apparently someone on these boards (exophase?) Mentioned tegra 4 pulling 8w in shield...again not final shipping devices but enough to go on for me to come to the conclusions I did.

Edit..I never mentioned big little...

Right, it pulls 32fps, and that is surely very realistic based on the low level results :)

If Adreno 330 is 50% faster than the Adreno 320 used in Snapdragon S4 Pro, then it will be significantly slower than the GPU's used in A6X and Tegra 4.

Lol no..it is 50%~2x better than adreno 320 in snapdragon s600..... snapdragon s600 is already faster than s4pro..see the benchmark results. ..

Again back to the point...im not making "baseless" speculations at all...what I have said has a logical base to it and is certainly not out of place on these boards where almost all posts (including yours I might add;) ) have a similar theme.

#Nothing to see here..move along.

No i dont. Snapdragon S600 will have a commercial availability of Q2 according to Qualcomm, yet the early devices will be coming out this quarter (LG and HTC) wich indicates Q2 is really when "most" of the devices will appear. Yet you want to claim that with S800 "most" of the devices will appear 3 months after Qualcomm claims they will be commercially available?

Nvidia themselves claim "most" Tegra4i devices will appear in Q1 2014. Not January 2014 but Q1 2014, yet you want to claim the first devices will appear as early as November.

Yeah you are grasping for straws here.

Yea and he says im making baseless speculations. .. *eyes roll

Also one reason i dont believe S800 will be late is i know of a Sony phablet codenamed "Togari" coming out in July with S800. And Sony is usually last in line using Qualcomm SoCs.

OK, this is getting beyond silly (no pun intended). Don't you think it would be logical for "most" Snapdragon 800 devices to be available in Q4 2013 for the holiday season? The first Snapdragon 800 devices should come out in Q3 2013 (Jul-Sep 2013), and "most" Snapdragon 800 devices should come out in Q4 2013 (Oct-Dec 2013) during the holiday season.

Anandtech specifically said that the expectation is for "the first Tegra 4i designs to begin shipping at the end of 2013". You do realize that the end of 2013 is pretty vague and doesn't just mean Christmas right? Anyway, to act like Tegra 4i is not in competition with S800 is disingenuous at best.

50% better performance does not equal 2x better performance, but rather 1.5x better performance. And since when did Qualcomm specifically state that Adreno 330 used in S800 is 50% faster than Adreno 320 used in S600? And where exactly does Qualcomm state that Adreno 320 used in S600 is 40% faster than Adreno 320 used in S4 Pro?

No whats silly is that you interpret "to begin shipping at the end of 2013 with most devices appearing in Q1 2014" as devices being commercially available in November

Let me narrow down your argument here:

S800 will be widely available in November while there will be maybe 1-2 Tegra4i devices appearing in December. So this means they are competing against each other

But by your very own goalpost moving logic: Tegra4i will be widely available in February while Qualcomms 2014 design will most likely appear in devices in March (based on S600 being shown on CES and appearing 2 months later)

So this means that Tegra4i is actually competing with Qualcomms first 2014 lineup

Oh it is? You must be using a pretty messed up calendar if you think that November-December is not considered to be the end of the year.

No, you are putting words in my mouth. I said that S800 will be first available in Q3 2013, with most devices available in Q4 2013. Tegra 4i will be first available in Q4 2013, with most devices available in Q1 2014. Considering that new product design cycles are generally between 6-12 months apart, it is pretty obvious that S800 and Tegra 4i will be competing with each other.

Do you have any more details, sounds very interesting, I was hoping to see a 800 in a new Nexus 7 tablet, which may be possible if we see S800s shipping early Q3.

" Qualcomm tells us that the Adreno 330 will offer roughly 50% more graphics performance over Adreno 320, and an almost 2x increase in compute performance."
http://www.anandtech.com/show/6568/qualcomm-krait-400-krait-300-snapdragon-800

As we have seen s600 (adreno 320) benchmarks on a samsung device hitting 40+ fps. .on early software....

It would be pretty stupid then for qualcomm to be comparing the adreno 330 to the older snapdragon s4 on earlier drivers and lpddr2 dont you think??

Especially when s600 was launched at the same event..and especially since more bandwidth and better drivers already provide much better performance on adreno 320/s600...

What would be the point of qualcomm bothering with an Adreno 330 if it only turns out to be 10% faster than s600??

Its you talking baseless nonsense mate not me...im ending this stupid conversation.

Im not putting any words in your mouth. You just admitted that you are comparing when S800 will be widely available to when Tegra4i will be first available as the basis for your claim that they are competing against each other. Wich by your very own logic means Tegra4i must also be competing with the 2014 designs

And you keep ignoring the fact that S600 was supposed to be first available in Q2 but the first devices will actually appear in Q1. Yet you continue claiming that the first devices for S800 will appear in Q3 without mass availability until Q4

Basically taking the best case scenario for Nvidia and the worst case scenario for Qualcomm.

6,44 full HD screen with stylus and 3500 mAh aswell as IR blaster

leak is the same guy on esato that leaked Xperia Z in June
