If you want performance, why you pick single GTX480? Its slower than 5970, and as you say performance is everything
Multi-GPU dosn't kick in in all games...that is why.
Fastest single GPU is my choice.

It probably does in about 90% of the games that actually require it...
Thats why there are now Crossfire profile updates.Dosn't do wonders in ARMA2, where I spend most of my time.
And I won't wait for a "hotfix" to play a game several months after release, no thank you.

CF works fine~ in A2? i use quadfire. But still no cake in ARMA2 for multi-GPU...so no point for me.
Yes, but how far out is the GTX 465?If GPUs are being shipped to vendors, nvidia and AMD counts them as "shipped". Sometimes their marketing counts them even as sold (as long as they leave fabs, regardless if they are on the shelves or not).

So what? If he wants a multiple GPU setup he should go with SLI anyway. But as already said he picks the fastest single GPU solutionIt probably does in about 90% of the games that actually require it...
Well. Because of this reason, GTX480 is faster in about 5% of games. These 5% are more important than the other 95%?Multi-GPU dosn't kick in in all games...that is why.

That could have been two misinterpretations of less than 10k cards at launch and less than 10k hotlots.
Because nVidia doesn't sell the cards to end users and they count the parts shipped.
If its an ASIC model you'll want to be shipping chips quite some time before the boards launch. So they shipped a lot of GTX465 Chips/GPUs but a less of GTX470/GTX480? Why would their partners store all of these cards?
BTW where did Surround 3D Vision go?
I thought there was lots of talk about a mid-April driver update that would bring such functionality over to the 400s...
Maybe it's just the fact that 3 monitors would have the nVidia cards idling at 120+ watts I suppose.

Makes me think that Nvidia's driver department is understaffed.
