NVIDIA GF100 & Friends speculation

We don't know when the screenshot was taken, but why would it be taken much later than right after the end of the 3DMark06 run ?
The card is at idle now, but the temp it reached under load, probably wasn't much higher IF the screenshot was taken right after.

Still, it's probably fake as was already noted.

To scale and position all the windows for the screenshot? They may not even have had all the programs or windows open during the run either.

Fine, add 20% more to compensate for neliz's fan speed (considering that you're the one that started this line of absurdism I find this random number pulled out of my behind justifiable)

40% vs 80%. And the GTX480 has a 1.8A rated fan. How on earth that's supposed to look flattering surpasses me.

I think this 3dmark06 score is fake. Why would NV pair 800MHz GDDR5 with a 512SP part?

If you take a look on the other GPU-Z reported stats, it clearly has problems recognizing clocks and other features ( -1238MB used memory, 0MHz GPU clock)

I guess since this hasn't been posted yet I'll go ahead and do it.

...the number of 512-core parts is quite limited. In fact, it is limited to the point where only Tesla C2070 [coming in 3Q 2010] and top-end Quadro board, the "FX 5900" should feature 512 cores [Tesla is announced, Quadro is not]. If our multiple sources are to believe, GeForce GTX 480 is set to debut with 480 shader cores, a number that will certainly curb a lot of enthusiasm for the part.

Also, we received news about targeted prices for the parts, and they look quite competitive against six-month old ATI 5800 Series: according to the benchmarks leaked some time ago, GeForce GTX 470 will beat out HD 5850 and in some cases, even HD 5870 - for the price of HD 5850 - we were told that the ballpark figure is $299-349, while GTX 480 will run between $449-499.

There have been some indications that there might be a halo part with the full 512 SPs (like an extreme edition or "ultra" type deal), but this article makes no mention of that, possibly discrediting such a notion. At any rate, a specialty card like that would cost a premium putting it in range of the 5970 in price, which wouldn't be worthwhile anyway.

What line of absurdism ? You really need to cool off...

All I said was, under the assumption that that was a load temp (which was my first impression), that 39 degrees @ 80% fan cycle is good and I added an example that with an ambient temp of 23-25º C, even at full speed, the typical stock cooler can't even come close to those numbers, under load.

Interesting, I'm wondering what is the nv trying to hide in the less than 10 days before the launch. Is it going to be a knock-out of HD 5870??? Probably not...

This morning we heard that NVIDIA had changed the strategy for sending samples; instead of partners sending them out NVIDIA are taking charge and sending out themselves. We’re not 100% sure why they’re doing this but it could be because NVIDIA doesn’t want any leaks on the results until the 26th. Quite often we see NVIDIA push a driver to us at the last minute and it’s possible that this could happen with the GTX 400 series.

Um no air cooler can. If you proposition makes no logic sense then it generally makes no sense.

There's not many cards, and NV is going to cherry pick and send only to their favoured review sites that will guarantee to give them good press. This makes sure the partners don't send to anyone not on the NV approved list.

That price is very low for such a large, hard to produce part that has poor yields. I can only image Nvidia isn't making any money on it. They are burning cash to keep market share, which is what they've been doing a lot of over the last year.

I am sure anandtech will be one of those sites though , IMHO that is all I need for a fair and highly accurate review .

They're not going to send them, they are getting handed out later this week, there's a EU press event in Paris, I don't know about the US or Asian event.

Lol@ "iGame AcademE" .. you'd expect them to print at least ONE box right... r-r-right?
Product names don't have to be spelled correctly. It could be a sort of pun referring to "me". I have a laptop from a major brand that has a sticker on it "Accelerates your you're video processing" or something. Now that's a typo :D

Ultra-much silver plating technology.

It also says "magnifide 100x" .. these are the kind of errors you hope your "western" colleagues filter out before your "eastern" colleagues do the whole design and printing thing themselves.
