NVIDIA: Beyond G80...

Apparently it's not going to add any value without a DX10 exposition. We already have a shitload of DX9 numbers out there.
 
Maybe when Crysis, Hellgate London or 3DMark 2007 show up.
Without any "big name" software on the market, testing DX10 performance would be moot.
 
I'm really wary of the Ultra SKU unless it's 80nm. AIB's have already pushed cards to 630Mhz. Hopefully it doesnt turn into another 7800GTX-512 fiasco.

Yeah, the name Ultra does have a bad vibe these days. ATI knew better, they've never used PE again.

I wonder how far they can push G80 on 90nm. 675 MHz with a slight overvoltage? :smile: And a new and noisier cooler of course. Add GDDR4 RAM and a few magic driver tweaks and there's the 8800 Ultra.

Or maybe they were just holding on to top yield cores since production started last year... ;)
 
I hope this doesnt turn into another 7800GTX 512mb.

but one thing i have a :?: about is that the OC versions of the GTX are already clocked 630~Mhz on the core, and ~2000 Mhz on the memory.

These are the whats possible on the ultra part.
a) Increased core clock speed up to ~700mhz?
b) GDDR4 and highly clocked memory speed
c) More Vram
d) 80nm optical shrink + highly increase core clock speed.

Or just maybe that the top yield cores have something the GTX dont. :D
Bleh, not sure how others think but i do like the "ultra" moniker. No more of those damned "X"s, or "T"s.
 
Yeah that'll be kinda lame - not the concept in itself - just the fact that your performance is cut in half when SLI doesn't work and you're getting $250 performance for your $500-$600 that you paid for the card.
