Out tomorrow, so it's time for the monthly sales thread again.

Vgchartz have already thrown their numbers *cough*guesses*cough* into the ring, and leaks/analyst previews/whatever should start popping up right about now in the quest for one day early cheap hits.

Well, yes. Tomorrow isn't exactly right, although it's Wednesday morning for me. Should be out in approx 42 hours (so they'll be out tomorrow for someone)... ;)
 
360 is going to be huge, I think maybe 500k.

MS said at one point Halo 3 weekly hardware sales "nearly tripled at major retailers" or something like that.

In August 360 sales rate was ~70k per week, which was helped by the price drop.

But if we assume the 70k rate per week was unchanged, then you had a week of triple that,

4X70k+1X210k=490k. So I think it's a reasonable estimate.

You have two factors affecting the baseline 70k rate in Sep, there might be some decline from price drop effects wearing off. On the other hand there might be some increase from Halo 3 hype. Where you think the pendelum swings more is up to you I guess.

DS and Wii will do the usual 400-500k.

PS3 will do 150 or so.

PSP I dont know, 275k?

I don't think the hardware attach rate was sustained for Halo3, but I do think it had an impact and will continue to have one as word of mouth sales (friends - coop/vs) and the Holiday shopping starts.

ps3 will see a huge bump when $400 drops (up 180% in EU)

Wii will continue to sell all they make for now... Though in Japan, the fad seems to be about over.

September NPD is a 5 week month. Your numbers are basically giving a negative impact for halo on the 360. Assuming it just held august numbers throughout sept it would be around 335k.

How is the 360 trending so far in Oct according to Vgchartz?
 
Some insane stuff ... I think if they keep this up, this will be a very good year for the industry. Next month we'll probably see the PS3 adding fuel to the fire, and everything will be up for the next three months just from the holiday madness alone.

Canadian Sales are in, and indicate high sales indeed:

Nintendo DS = 45K
PS2 = 16.5K
GBA = 8.6K
Xbox 360 = 51.2K
Wii = 42.9K
PSP = 22K
PS3 = 15.6K

Indicates Wii and 360 sales > 400k, and PS3 maybe a little higher than expected, 180-200k maybe.

360 sales may actually be over 500k. It sold 27.5 last month in Canada, which corresponded to 270k in the US IIRC. I may have to revise my guess to 500k for 360 in US ;)

This sets 360 up for a monster holiday as well, we could see as many as 3million 360's moved over Nov/Dec. Though, I think the PS3 pricedrop will take alot of wind out of their sales...
 
Arwin, where'd you get those numbers? Either it's the US NPD data, or you're a very good roulette player. ;)

hm... so Halo 3 only sold 135K in Canada? We know for sure that even 10x that number is way too little for the US.
