1. NBA 2K11 (Take-Two Interactive, Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, PSP, Wii, PC)
2. Fallout: New Vegas (Bethesda Softworks, Xbox 360, PS3, PC)
3. Medal of Honor (Electronic Arts, Xbox 360, PS3, PC)
4. Fable III (Microsoft, Xbox 360)
5. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II (LucasArts, Xbox 360, PS3, WII, PC, NDS)
6. Halo: Reach (Microsoft, Xbox 360)
7. Just Dance 2 (Ubisoft, Wii)
8. FIFA Soccer 11 (Electronic Arts, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PS2, PSP, NDS, PC)
9. Madden NFL 11 (Electronic Arts, Xbox 360, PS3, WII, PS2, PSP)
10. WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2011 (THQ, PS3, Xbox 360, PS2, WII, PSP)

DS 342k
360 325k
PS3 250k
Wii 232k
PSP ~75k

by my reckoning from amazon all 3 consoles are pretty close this month ~15%

also whilst they havent got numbers (so you cant read much into it),
from the looks of the systems order is in the order they sold in. Well thats my theory.
i.e. NBA 2K11 sold better on PSP than wii ouch!

Fallout: New Vegas (360+PS3; CE+std) -- 1.01MM

I want to know that Castlevania will have a sequel :(

Wow that's quite a bit lower for fallout on the ps3. ~331k.

MOAR!:
“Fable III” (580,000 units) launched as the #2 game in October, while “Halo: Reach” (315,000 units) continued strong sales in its first full month on the market. (Source: NPD Group, October 2010)"

Fable 2 = 12days counted
Fable 3 = 5days counted

NPD sucks now. All they are doing is letting VGCraphole gain more traction.

this

oh well hopefully we'll get the important data slowly leaked out over the next days. if npd turns out that way continually it wont be too bad.

Those are pretty lackluster Fable 3 sales if I'm not mistaken. Maybe some is due to the limited time available, but Fable 2 I believe did 1 million.

It really seems like the generation is on the downslide. New hardware owners drive software, but eventually thats not enough to overcome the inevitable declining purchase rates in the long term userbase. Wii software peaked in 08 and PS3 and 360 are either there, already peaked, or will soon.

Some say Kinect could reverse that, or 199 for PS3, but it's unlikely in both cases.

This makes me wonder if next gen plans might not eventually hasten.

I have a hint PS3 sales may be in the neighborhood of 280k. Take with salt.

Even more useless when the handheld version are counted with the home console version. I haven't played it but is NDS version of Star Wars: Force Unleased II really the same game as the version on X360/PS3? :p

Will certainly make it more difficult for exclusives to chart.

All non PS3/360 versions typically sell next to nothing when the UK Chart Track reveals some info. We're talking, 1, 2%.

I think in most cases you can assume the PS3 and 360 are almost all sales of a multiplatform game.

Edit: Well, in somewhat but not total contradiction to the preceding, Fallout NV by platform from GAF:

360: 679k
PS3 331k
PC 107k

Not too bad for PC Fallout, given download sales I will assume might add another 50k or ~50% (just as a guess)

It's funny almost as many numbers seem to leak out of NPD as they gave up straightaway in the past, if not in some cases more info than we previously got in some areas. So what was the point of withholding them again? Honestly it might be more fun this way :lol

Here are some examples of multiplatform splits by Chart Track in UK. http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/gamesblog/2010/nov/15/top-ten-video-games

Black Ops: Xbox 360 (56), PS3 (41), PC (2) *** Not sure where the Wii version is here ***
Fifa 11: Xbox 360 (40), PS3 (35), Wii (9), PSP (7)
Fallout NV: Xbox 360 (58), PS3 (37), PC (5)
Sims 3: Xbox 360 (27), Wii (21), DS (20), PS3 (19)
Star Wars: TFU 2: Xbox 360 (51), PS3 (40), Wii (6)

I guess it's not quite as bad as I thought here, seems I remember even more unbalanced PS360/other splits in the past. Where all other SKU's equaled up to just 4% for example. Sims 3 is an interesting Nintendo friendly outlier.

790k. It had 10 days or so of sales.

Interestingly that month fallout 3 was also out. It did 375k (although it released a week later than fable II).

More random tidbits:

http://www.industrygamers.com/news/xbox-360-sells-325000-in-october-fable-iii-sells-580000/

"For October, the 360 console was responsible for six of the top 10 console game titles, including the top four titles overall, "a feat never-before accomplished by a current-generation console," Microsoft boasted."

Neogaf:
VANQUISH < ENSLAVED 360 < NBA JAM

Fable debut months
Fable: 600k in 17 days (Sep 14. 2004)
Fable II: 790k in 11 days (Oct. 21, 2008)
Fable III: 580k in 4 days (Oct. 26, 2010)

Guess Fable 3 is selling similar pace to Fable 2. Maybe just slightly below.

Still illustrates flat software sales though, outside of the likes of Black Ops. Reach shows a similar flat/declining pattern to Halo 3.

For YOY comparisons this might help...

DS sold 325k - 457.6k
360 sold 325k
Wii sold less than 325k
PS3 sold less than 320.6k
PSP sold less than 174.6k

PS3 Move Bundle Sees 15% Sales Jump Since Launch:
http://www.industrygamers.com/news/ps3-move-bundle-sees-15-sales-jump-since-launch/

"While the PS3 overall did not experience an increase from September to October, the PS3 bundle with Move experienced a 15% increase over September 2010," she said, referring to the 320GB PS3 bundle that comes with Move, a PlayStation Eye and Sports Champions.

Kinect to Outsell PlayStation Move by 67% Through January, says Pachter:
http://www.industrygamers.com/news/...tion-move-by-67-through-january-says-pachter/

"By our reckoning, Microsoft is likely to sell 5 million Kinect units by the end of GameStop’s January quarter, and Sony is likely to sell 3 million Move units," he said. "We expect Microsoft’s U.S. sales to be around 3 million, evenly split between standalone Kinect units at $150 and Kinect console bundles at an average sales price of $350; we anticipate that international sales will be around 2 million, also evenly split at around the same price points. We expect Sony’s U.S. sales to be around 1.2 million Move units by the end of GameStop’s January quarter, evenly split between standalone Move units at $100 and Move console bundles at $400; we anticipate international sales of 1.8 million units, also evenly split at the same price points."

Pachter's bit about their predicted MOVE sales doesn't make any sense to me... Firstly he said they'll sell about 2-3 million, then after Sony announced their 2.5 million sales to retailers in Europe and 1 million in the Americas he changed his tune to "they're on their way to selling 5 million".

Now after they've already sold 3.5 million he's saying that they'll sell 3 million by next January?!?!

Errrr, Pachter... something doesn't make sense there... I'll leave it to you to guess what it might be ;-)

This "Industry Gamer" place seems our NPD leak source LOL. Anyway they have revealed more numbers. PS3=250k, Wii=232k, and some random software from Gamasutra.

Tony Hawk Shred : 3,000
DJ Hero 2 : 59,000
MOH: a bit more than 1M
EA MMA: 45,000
NBA 2K11 : 1.15M (doubled it sales from last year).

Found this table quite striking on GAF

Wii Oct 08 - 803,000
Wii Oct 09 - 506,900
Wii Oct 10 - 232,000

Just wow when you look at it like that.

From Nintendo, figures such as Reggie, the theme has been "yeah our hardware is down, but we're counting on a typical big Nintendo holiday to pull us through".

If that doesn't materialize the next two months, and from the above it sure looks unlikely, I have a feeling Nintendo's hardware projections on Wii, fiscal performance, etc is all going to get just blown out of the water.

Great job NBA 2k, great to see a non-EA sports game do great. I guess the lack of timely competition was a real boon for them.

By the time we pull all these drips and drabs together over the days following NPD, once again we may end up with more info than NPD used to release. Again I find that funny.

Also there are some total software numbers, but I'm not understanding them, this was posted:

Software sales:

360: $265 million
PS3: $186 million
WII: $91 million
NDS: $49 million

PS2 + PSP: $14 million (605 - 591)

But then you see the figures in the source article dont match it. Dont know if the article was edited, some info was retracted due to giving too much info, or what. One thing is clear the IG figures must be way low (81 m for 360 software? At $81 per SKU that would be 1m games total) so I'm guessing the gaffer extrapolated by the percentages, assuming the article was written wrong. Or perhaps he had previous figures to work from.

Edit yes that's how he did it, he must assume the article is worded wrong. The article says this:

Software sales for Nintendo didn't fare much better, either, as the Wii software sales were down 26% to $32 million and DS software sales were down 32% to $23 million. Xbox 360 software sales, on the other hand, were up 44% to $81 million, and PS3 software sales were up $27 million (17%).

And for example the 360 numbers, 81m=.44x, x=184, 184+81=265

But anyway however they were arrived at, if true, very strong for 360 and very bad for Wii.

Mabye patcher is only counting the bundles and sony's 3.5m number is stand alone controllers also ?

Yes if Sony is counting each piece of hardware as a "Move", technically a Sports Champion pack, Nav controller, and an extra wand=4 moves. Eyetoy+Wand+Wand+Nav controller. Yet only one complete setup is purchased (though I suppose, the second wand could also be used by a second player, making it a gray area).

What SONY announces as sell-in is quite different than what Michael is referring to since you can see he specifically states "...We expect Sony’s U.S. sales to be around 1.2 million Move units by the end of GameStop’s January quarter" which would mean sold-through. It isn't even a difficult mental exercise to see that SONY's statement and Michael's statement are NOT at odds with each other. That Gamestop is mentioned multiple times clearly denotes that this, as it almost always is, is not an interview but a GME note.
