Boring month

Thought Punchout would do a lot better. Wow at UFC. Good job EA on having success with EA Active. Nice number for Infamous. Surprised to see Wolverine make it.

PS2 is back down after a spike from the price cut.
PS3 sales are low
360 sales decent
Wii seems to be coming down. Price cut this fall is likely?
Wow at DS
PSP is close to dead in NA. The GO at $250 certainly won't help but price reduction on the existing PSP models + GT5 could help for a bit

Yeah, didn't expect UFC to sell that much. Infamous numbers about what I thought (I thought it would do ok). Also thought PO would do better. And aren't those numbers for Wii HW kind of low (relative to their usual numbers I mean)?

Surprised to see ps2 so low given their recent price drop.

Seems the ps2 market is saturated even at $100.

Wii numbers are still right on track. Roughly double the ps3 and xb360.

Not surprised at UFC. That had incredible street hype. UFC in general has just exploded.

However that Wii number is very poor guys. PS360 combined outsold it for the first time in many months.

I'll have to start doing research, but combined with the fact it hasnt been sold out in three months, thats pretty much the worst Wii number ever.

Percent drop from April 09:

Wii 340k>289.5k=-15%
PS3 127k>131k=+3%
360 175k>175k=0%

Wii March 09=601k

Thats the third worst Wii month ever, behind March 07 259k, and January 2008 274k, both very supply constrained numbers.

OTOH, all hardware sales are weak, hard to tell whats seasonal/economy related.

I know UFC is huge (I myself am a huge UFC fan) but I just didn't think the game would top the software charts. I thought it would do good, but not THAT good.

Well not bad, for the 360. The DS is just a monster disguised as a portable game machine.

Wii and Wii games took a big hit, but nothing from the competition (other than UFC) to take advantage of that (with regards to NPD numbers).

Nice to see a non-Nintendo first party game take 2nd place for the Wii. It will be interesting it has the same legs as Wii first party games or will die rapidly die off as most Wii 3rd party games seem to do.

PS2 still in spitting distance of PS3 is still pretty amazing.

Someone hurry up and post the 11-20 spots so we can get a better picture of things...

Infamous doing better than Woverine is a pretty good sign for PS3. Will it have the legs to remain in the top 20 for more than 2 months?

But yeah, overall other than UFC pretty boring.

Assuming sales are to remain static between months. What would the difference be between the PS3s likely sales and actual sales next month? Do you know where to find the total quantity sold for June 2008?

So it looks like the PS3 will struggle to get anywhere near that total. If it does 200k or 50% I would definately be surprised. The Wii however does have a shot because they are releasing the motion + addon and a lot of games to take advantage of the technology right now. The Xbox 360 cannot be too far off the mark, I guess if sales rise a bit they may even match their YOY total!

As for handhelds the DS should be able to hit the mark with no issues, but the PSP, wow is it going to be down considerably YOY as well? Could it even be 1/2 the sales as last year?

Not really seeing much in June that would push sales for X360, so I think there's a good chance they'll come well short of 220k.

Although I suppose if Prototype does well and Fight Night does incredibly well for the 1 week it'll be out at the end of June it may be possible. Other than that I'm not seeing much in June that'll make it a better month than May.
