Wow where is the PS3 version of Prototype?

I guess Infamous may have caused some issues.

Infamous did 175k first month.
At least Guerilla showed up somewhere. UFC PS3 isn't there, but if it follows the usual attachrate it's probably just past #10, at around 160k. Interesting that FN4 is so close between 360 and PS3.

360 is 10% up from last year, PS3 is down, but June last year was MGS4 month.

And well, nice job on the Wii, EA.

Surprised Infamous sold more than it did last month. I know it had a brief appearance in May, but still, that's usually when most of the sales happen.

FNR4 is very close between the two platforms but then other MP games probably show the usual trend (PS3 roughly half of the 360).

PS3 drops due to lack of MGS4 but still not very good numbers overall. PSP and Wii have huge drops also.

Good. BTW I got my copies of RF and Prototype today, can't wait to pit them against inFamous.

With PS3 price drop rumors going strong I expect sales to limp along until the drop, sort of like the 360 did last year.

What's up with FNR4 numbers being so close for each platform?

Looks like the 360 crowd is more drawn to UFC.

It also follows a trend I've noticed where popular franchises from the prior gen have disproportionately high attach rates on PS3 compared to new IP.

Everything performed better than I thought
wii continues it slow percentage decrease

Dang, so Prototype on just X360 has already outsold Infamous? Makes you wonder how well Infamous would have done if it had also been released on X360 and PC.

Add in PC and PS3 sales and it's possible Prototype might have gotten close to 1 million sales in it's first 3 weeks of sales.

Wait scratch that. PS3 sales didn't even get to 200k so less than half X360 numbers. So maybe 800k, add another week or so for a full month and might be close to 1 million.

Not bad for a game that was panned by a lot of people. But that could just be for lack of competition on X360 and PC.

Dang Wii Fit still charting in the top 10, although it seem like it is trending down and will drop out in the next few months.

And dang even the Nintendo DS showed a YOY loss leaving only the X360 with a YOY gain.

I'm expecting it to show a YOY loss in August though, as then it'll be compared to the price adjusted X360 from a year ago.

Fight Night is a great game. Too bad it didn't sell better. I wonder if it was the buttons or just competition from UFC? If it was the buttons, I had no idea the buttons were such a big issue. I wonder how many people played the demo vs buying the final product.

Well, you also have to consider that is only 1 week of sales for Fight Night 4.

What will be interesting is to see if it has the same legs as UFC and if sales continue stead for the next month or two...

Ah, never even thought about the release date. Still, usually the first week is big and the weeks after are slow. Seems like it will hit less than 1 mil on each platform. Not sure if that's good enough with the huge roster of fighters they had to pay for.

I thought putting vintage Mike Tyson on the cover would drive sales by itself. The Fight Night crowd has been begging for Mike since the series started.

I am starting to think the price drop won't even come until 2010 since they are releasing the PSP Go this Fall. If it does come I am still thinking only $50 but I don't think that will help. If a price drop comes it needs to be $100 IMO to do anything.

$249 PSP Go vs a PS3 $299 after a $100 price drop this Fall would just cause friction purchasing one or the other at $50 difference in price.

I'm wondering if they could afford to do a $100 price drop on the existing stock of PS3s when the Slim launches and then sell the Slim at the current price. Depending on the timing, there may even be room to then do a $50 drop on the Slim in time for Nov&Dec.

That kinda makes sense. It was what they did with the 20 gig PS3 in the US when they phased it out and needed to move some massive inventory.

However, that problem with that is that they don't have as much financial room to maneuver as they did back then. Depending on how much stock of current PS3 is still around, it may not be financially viable for them to take that much of a hit.

Then again they need to do SOMETHING to hit those projections Sony made with regards to selling significantly more PS3's in 2009 compared to 2008, when they are currently selling significantly less PS3's in 2009 comapred to 2008.

Even with a massive price cut, those projections are looking more and more ludicrous.
