Here's Take-Two's financial press release:

2K Games released BioShock for Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Games for Windows® in its fourth quarter. This wholly owned and internally developed 2K title is the highest rated game to date on Xbox 360 according to both GameRankings.com and Metacritic.com, and has already shipped over 1.5 million units worldwide since its launch in late August.

Not 2 million, but still pretty good.

Another interesting development from the conference call is that Take 2 is saying that Bioshock is a franchise that will continue. I wonder how they are going to do this, with either of the two endings. Maybe a prequel, showing the exact happenings from the tape logs? Or maybe taking the story on from the evil ending?

"I would say, probably, roughly an every-two-year schedule would be optimal. And if you look historically that has been largely the case with GTA, and I'd expect we'd apply rougly the same strategy to BioShock because BioShock is shaping up to be a very important franchise," Zelnick said in response to an analyst's query. "I don't want to say more than that about BioShock because I certainly don't want to jinx it, but I feel awfully good about where that's going."

Gee thanks for that  I'm not able to buy every game I want right away but i still like being surprised

And yes, this is very likely a game I will never play. I like it's art style, but in general it disgusts me. Probably would have enjoyed an adventure game in this kind of environment a lot more. ;)

I felt the exact same way.

But I had to try the demo.

After the demo, I had to buy the game.

After buying the game, I had to play it with friends.

Generally the entire environment is rather creepy and the gore factor is quite high. Neither of which are my preference. However, the game itself was just so good, it deserved purchase, recognition, and appreciation. Having said that, I will be trading it back in for Halo3 in a couple weeks as it isn't something I wan't to continue playing. Not that it isn't fun or doesn't have replay value. I just don't want to continue being submersed in such an environment.

I hope they continue the series as something similar to a "final fantasy" in which the series has nothing to do with one another. Thus it leaves the developers open to be just as creative and boundless in future versions. It's the smartest thing to do for all involved. Developers wouldn't be handcuffed, and gamers wouldn't get bored. With both parties happy, investors will be happy too.

Wii sales are massive again, ps3 is back to where it was even though its nog 100dollars cheaper. MP3 sales are a bit dissapointing but maybe its because the game was only out for 4 days.
