Next-generation haptics

Some engineers at The University of Utah as showing a prototype of a new kind of thumbsticks haptic system that they are touting for adoption in next-generation game controllers:

Looks really good to me, if it doesn't harm the control function of the sticks.

I wonder how much it would cost to put this in a next generation console.

Just wow...imagine firing a bow and you could feel the tension of the string.

It would be great for the heavy and slow Dragonslayer Bow in Dark Souls. It may be less suitable for fast action archery in Deadmund (You have to rapid fire like Legolas in Lord of the Rings).

It may also be good for story games. e.g., Ico holding on to the girl in a cliff hanging moment (or vice versa), Ico tugging the girl vs the shadows, kid feeding the baby Griffon in The Last Guardian, guy hanging onto the Colossi in SotC, Ethan in Heavy Rain interacting with the surrounding.
