News & Rumours: Playstation 4/ Orbis *spin*

It's a stupid habit of TV manufacturers to give implementations of open standards a name that makes it seem they invented something. They don't realise that all they're doing is helping Apple sell stuff, basically.

Oh my god ! I didn't know it was so different !
Sony knows how to make hardware ! Amazing !

The most shocking part to me remains that the Xbox still has the external power brick.

It's bigger on the inside. :yep2:

I hope nobody stack them like that, because this completely blocks the XB1 airflow.
The PS4 was designed to be stacked any way we want though. I put mine under my PS3-Slim.

PS4 seems pretty dust avoidant. I have mine put on top of 2 stacks of PS3 games at the moment..

I stand it vertically, beside my vertical office PS3.

Because of space consideration, the back of the console is pointing right at me. That's one of the reasons I can hear the fan and drive noise. I will shift it so that the front is facing me today.

Seeing Xbox One in person, it isn't nearly as big as you expect it to be. It's just big relative to the PS4, which must be pretty small (I haven't seen one). If you've owned a PS3 fat, or an original Xbox 360, you're not going to be shocked when you look at the Xbox One. I was expected an 80s VCR from the accounts.

I think people are just marveling at the size of PS4 rather than criticizing XB1.

8 more days¡¡ :oops::oops:

... I'll be back from Florida to see Yuropian PS4ers ! ;-)

EDIT:
That shot would look much better if Sony didn't print their logo on the glossy cover. :-/

It's only surprising because for the most part technology gets trimmer over the years. VHS recorders, DVD players, TVs - even accounting for the aspects that can't shrink - drive slots, screens etc, the builds of devices tend to shrink as much as possible.

I know Sony have more experience here but wow, the two devices next to each other is crazy different. But hey, people aren't going to be carrying the things around much.

I like how they insist to put the power brick inside.

At times I wonder what an Apple console would look like though. Have been eyeing that latest MacPro. I don't mind if they make a smaller console version.

It would be hard to stick inside the TV console, but it could disguise as a trash can. :twist:

PS4 seems to be designed to make the console as small and clean as possible, which is appreciable to customers. Xbox One looks to be designed to be incredibly simple to manufacture, assemble and service, which is more of a bottom-line approach.

depends on angle here they dont look that much different, ps4 a bit smaller but not as apparent as the above photo the weights arent that much different
ps4 2.8kg vs 3.2kg & brick
That's a perspective cheat. At this angle, the bottom edge of the XB1 hides it's height, the face of the PS4 is at an angle and the camera is placed to make it look taller than it is.

When you can use both of your eyes this cheat doesn't work.

Look at the perceived size of the controller, the DS4 looks gigantic, but in reality it's smaller than the XB1 controller.
