I wonder what happened. They were in alpha since at least E3 right? Can't say I was terribly interested in it but I'd definitely play the PS+ version.

If Driveclub is delayed that makes 2 of 3 games I intended on buying on launch day no longer available. If true, I may cancel my pre-order since I don't think Battlefield 4 on its own is going to tide me over for 5 months. It also would mean that PS+ is worthless other than for multiplayer within the launch window. . .

I guess they would replace DC with some other game for PS+.

Some non-confirmation from Evolution Studios?

It doesn't make PS+ worthless by a long shot. There are a whole raft of games that will be available. Far more in fact than the competition has lined up. If none of those appeal to you then it is very unfortunate as they are very diverse indeed.

This is a PS4 thread.

For PS+ on the PS4 DriveClub was the hook, unless they toss in something like Minecraft for launch day I do not see much to justify the price beyond "I have no choice if I want to play multiplayer". It's irrelevant to me buying PS+ at launch if the game is not actually out yet ("Don't Starve" does not even have a date yet to my knowledge).

For non PS+ games the obvious omissions specifically for launch are:

no sandbox game (since Watchdogs is delayed)
no western style RPGs (and I believe no RPGs period)

I don't trust EA to handle the NFS franchise in a fun fashion so for me personally there are also no driving games to be had at launch. That means my 3 most favourite genres are not covered. Presumably I am not the only one out there that likes sandbox and RPG type games.

The only PSN game I definitely have interest in that is supposed to be there at launch is Minecraft. So it still looks like a significant drought, enough to make buying launch day questionable unless you mainly care about shooters or F2P (aka P2W).

Cheers

It's unfortunate that your focus is one genre, one game. It might not even be delayed yet, it is just a rumour after all. PS+ offers great value to anyone with a diverse interest in games. On launch day there will be a, literal, metric ton of content to play with. More than there has been for a console launch before.

One game is just that. One solitary single lonely game. If a delay actually happens, and that makes the game better then so be it. Until then broaden out a bit, step outside the box. We're just coming out of a generation dominated by mindless shoot them in the face games. Driven by one single factor. It's all change now, time to breath some fresh air!

what is the metric ton of content on PS+ ?

Perfect timing:

Go see a PS4 demo near you.

Let's hope they use a stock unit. :)

There's one in Stanford Mall, near the new Apple Store.

I stopped by.

The demo UI is very simple. Not the real thing.

Played Knack. Confirmed I will buy it. Old school platformer with melee. Good enemy variety and AI in the demo. Seems to have other moves. I didn't try whirlwind. Another guy did.

The PS4 box on display is just a shell.
The real one is in the wall. ^_^

DS4 is good too. Comfortable and feels at home.

[back to work !]

I had hope that the literal part would be implied sarcasm, but hey ho!

PSN Games

Blacklight
Contrast
Divekick
flow
Flower
DC universe online
Escape plan
Minecraft
Pinball arcade
Putty squad
Resogun
Sound shapes
Super mother load
Warframe
Tiny brains
War Thunder
Switch galaxy ultra

And more to come. Plus the retail releases at launch. More than enough content to make it through to the second wave.

How do those help out a new ps4 owner though? Do they work on the ps4 ?

For a new ps4 owner there doesn't seem to be much if any content on ps+

Those should be PS4 titles.

Some of them will be discounted or free if you have the PS3 version. Some are F2P.

PS+ also has additional discounts for other PSN titles.

flow
Flower
Pinball arcade
Sound shapes

Are existing PS3 titles (all of which I already own). I do not believe any are part of PS+ at launch.

Blacklight
DC universe online
Warframe
Warthunder

Are F2P games based on microtransactions (they are only "free" if your time is worthless / you don't like to win). They also do not require PS+.

That leaves:

Contrast
Divekick
Escape plan
Minecraft
Putty squad
Resogun
Super mother load
Tiny brains

Only Resogun has been listed as being part of PS+ at launch.

Cheers

I don't know how it works. The list is probably still being updated. EscapePlan is indeed coming on Nov 29th according to my link above. Not sure about PS+ pricing.

I saw the Contrast PS4 demo in Sony Store this evening. May be it's coming soon too. We probably need Sony to come up with a complete game list for both PS+ and regular users. It is possible that the games above have special PS+ price.

At this moment, I don't know of any F2P game behind PS+.

Well there's Drive Club and Resogun.
Now I didn't even expect to see a single game with PS+ on PS4 so it's something.
Also this is just day one, in time more games will join the PS+ and we get 1Gb more for our cloud saves.

Ok this is not as much as on PS3 but it's understandable.

So the guy says he has no update because he's not been to the office for over a week on paternity leave and people are reading that as the game is delayed? Or have I missed something else?

When my son was born I didn't give work or what I was doing there a second thought for two weeks (and then another two weeks when I came back and did nothing lol)
