New spy footage of 2009 Nissan Skyline GT-R at track

I haven't driven the new STi yet but may in near future as a friend is looking in to buying one or perhaps an EVO IX... From what I hear, the new STi is a cracking car and very quick around the track... though I'm still a bit surprised by the size of the thing, after seeing one parked next to a E46 M3 (which IMO is a big car too! :devilish:)... The point about the chassis being stiffer is noted though.
I have one, not one of the new ones with the 2.5 litre engine, but mine in current spec easily beats one of those.

In standard form they get pretty boring after a while but mine now has about 350 bhp and 340 ft/lbs of torque so it is a right laugh when you give it some abuse.

They don't break either like some cars would being Japanese.

The Exige is UGLY!

And forget about America vs. Europe and Japan.......

No doubt it'll be a tight decision, though here in Switzerland at least, you can get the Evo IX out-of-the-box with 330bhp (ECU tuning), while Subaru doesn't offer anything from official side yet... BTW; What are the exact tires STi's are sold with? Track-tires?

Cheers Phil

I agree. When giving it some stick it's a great package, but in mundane day to day traffic I found it notchy & irritating. Nice numbers you're getting. From an EJ207? I'm more of a V8 + slusher kind of guy these days (400hp & 425ft/lbs torque, but heavier car).

Just this: An arial atom isnt even a proper car, it's a big go cart.
The Noble is a kit car...

Whatever, its fast as hell and probably a blast to drive. And the Noble isnt a kitcar.

Now tell me again how you aren't an anti american, bigot??

Youre blaming me of having a IQ of 50 while you keep blaming me for being anti american just because I say I dont like american cars, now who is having to low IQ?. And I dont even hate all american cars, I love those old muscle cars like the mustang and those old cars with the wings on the back. You seriously need to drop your patritism level a bit.

Isnt the new subaru pretty crap compared to the new evo?

Oke 200hp is a bit overexacurated but its still pathetic what americans get out of their engines.

The ford f150, I believe the best selling car in the states, has a 5,4l v8 producing a whopping 300hp. The 2005 mustang has v8 4,6 and 5,4l supercharged engine producing 300 and 500hp. The z06, a massive 7l engine generating 505hp.

The F40 has 480hp from a 2,9l v8 engine, and that was 20 years ago. The audi RS6 has a 4.2l v8 producing 450hp. The m5 has something like 500hp with a 5l v10 I believe.

So yes its obious that we europeans know how to build a good engine alot better than americans do.

Any engine can be tweaked to produce significantly more HP than it was originally designed for. And with the right (expnsive) parts it can even last a while before it burns out.

Biggest difference between most European Designs and American Designs is weight. Typical EU sports cars are lighter than Typical US sports cars therefore they corner better, brake better, and need less HP.

Isn't there a stock Evo model that has 400hp at least in UK?
heheh why did you edit your post, I was looking forward for a Exige VS STI war between you and that Imbreza guy

The FQ (short for Fucking-Quick?) versions? No... the people responsible for those EVO versions would be probably facing life-sentance overhere if they were to bring them on the market. The standard version or with the ECU mod are the only ones we get. We do have a few tuners over here (i.e. by Carbon-Designs) that happily upgrade the Evo (VIII) to 400bhp though and the asking price is quite a bargain too! Have a friend who has one of their stage-2 upgrades that sees 360bhp out of an EVO VIII. At full throttle, all you hear is the turbo sucking in air!

Hehe... sorta changed my mind when I noticed where the discussion probably would be heading. Besides, mine isn't quite... err... standard... anymore. :devilish:

Our friends on top gear rate the FQ350 as the best evo model, the 400 isn't to useable.

The clutch is too heavy and the turbo lag is a nightmare.

I suppose if your bought it as a track car it would own though. I remember when they had it on top gear and they put the stig in a lambo and the FQ400 stuck to it's ass like super glue.

I will always be a Subaru man though. Evo's are probably a little bit "madder" but the flat 4 burble/roar of a Subaru is the best noise a car can make.

Pah, my brother imported a v8 Camero, I wasn't impressed.

Different strokes for different folks I suppose.

I was one about the sound of the engine more than the quality of the car which as you suggest was abysmal.

I like the concept of a muscle car, but if you can get a ricer tuned to be as quick in a straight line (or quicker) then there really is no contest in my opinion. Cornering is more fun than pulling away fast anyway.

Interesting. What model/year Camaro? A 327 or 350 smallblock is a great sounding engine even today.

With the same $ as spent on a ricer, you'd end up with a funny car with MRC suspension... More mass ceteris paribus, means trickier cornering.

Hmm. I had some vid links of an IS200 with 900hp & GM HFV6 3.6l with 1200hp. Street legal. Can't find them now.

IS200 with 900HP? Wow! The IS200 wasn't designed for forced induction so that's pretty crazy. They probably replaced everything including the engine block. :p

I don't think your'e talking about the Lexus IS200 though right?

It's probably an F-body series 2. From '81 they offered I4 & V6 fuel injected engine options. Not one of those was it? ;) The previous series 1970-1980 also had the 454 big block option.

Addendum: Sorry for extended OT post(s).
