Can you elaborate? I've never seen these before, and I dont spot anything fake about them.

Actually, they're all new, and all official. SCEE put them up on their press site today:

I have seen a different picture (Not a batarang).
I bought the Sept 2006 PSM3 magazine in the airport yesterday. The controller on page 96 has a matt and rough finishing. But the 2 crosses (left and right pad) are gloss finished. The words ("Sony", "Select" and "Start") are white, instead of light grey. The handles are slightly longer.

This is photographed together with the 60Gb PS3. It looks much better than the standard controller shown here.

No, it's not the controller. At least not what I saw.

Though I've seen a shot of the controller with "SERECT", that's not it

Edit: For the record, I would have preferred the solution in the earlier design shots, but it's so minor it's really not an issue.

I love the design... Bit bulky, but if it looks cool, i don't mind.

Obviously we'll get hundreds of people saying they hate it and just as many saying they love it. It's a design choice and design choices always come with a price: personal taste. People will love it and people will hate it...

Personally i think that Sony did a very good job at making something that is actually bigger than the first Xbox look good. That's quite impressive, but they do have quite a good design team working for them, making Sony things in general "look good". At least they try...

The logo on the tray? Cant remember seeing it before.
Beautiful ?? errr... guess that depends on whom you ask. Its definitly "overstyled" and therefore right in the trend.

I too would have preferred the banana controller, too bad the internet was so vocal, as I think most of the critisism towards it was unfounded and just a ersult of internet mass-hysteria.

Note to Sony: Please do not listen to the internet the next time you make choices on design. The echoes internet is not reliabe when measuring mass appeal.

Yes, I believe they call it the 'photoshop' finish. I too have my PSM3 right in front of me...
