New 3DMark05 screenie

Nah, I still prefer the test that the last screenshot came from. :)
When 3DMark05 goes live, run the demo mode (jnstead of the "Game Test Benchmark") to see a longer version of every game test. Demo mode showing this scene is my favourite is what I meant. It's like watching a movie :)

I have a feeling looking at that screenshot and actually running the demo will be very similar.
I think the sceenshot is taken during actual demo/game test run.

I personally think that screenshot is a poor representation of that particular game test. There are better looking scenes in this game test.

I'm not that sure, I've seen similar quality (ok maybe a bit lower), rendered on a GF4 @ interactive framerates.
Of course maybe there are Shaders I don't see, but to me it looks high poly + bump + no specular (to avoid plastic look) + shadow maps.

After a closer look, it's possible it has a wood shader.

Definetly looks cool (although there's some shadow mapping aliasing), remind me FF9 flying ship somehow.

I was implying that it would be a slideshow and I would get to stare at the same frame for some time before I would get to enjoy the next.

Yeah I noticed the shadow aliasing from the ropes but not the deck shadow, why is that?

It is cool, but even in demo mode I prefer the other part. :p

FM really went to town with the art assets this time around. Everything is textured beautifully.

Excellent, flying ships. Hopefully that cloth waves convincingly.

Sadly, even more shadow aliasing artefacts. But I bet they aren't as noticeable in motion. :\

Those are a LOT of polygons, and a LOT of detail...

Amazing that we're doing this in realtime... and to think we were only just spinning flatshaded boxes on our Amigas 10-15 years ago :)

We are getting closer and closer to Pixar-quality.

Bloody hell....

Hey, if I can get it to actually render like that screenshot, even at 2 fps, I'll be proud of my widdle 9800 Pro. ;)

*tosses card up in the air a few times* you're all grown up now!

It looks like multiple sample jittered shadow maps to me. Anyone else concur? Sort of like what Carmack was was talking about recently for his next (and last?) 3D engine.

Will there be another nature test?

Wait... Damn NDA.

The first screenshot that FM released, had an enchanted forest theme.

I suppose this is quite similar to the earlier nature tests.

FM has shown us officially three screenshots. We've got this one that this thread is about, the night forest one and the one showing a badass guy in armor with a huge frigging gun.

They are all killers. And I'm not talking about just IQ!
