Take a look at the "DXTC Nightmare" for some real emphasis on the colour limitation (like Epic says, though, it is a truly unfair scenario).
Using DXTn (n>1) for opaque textures is a waste of bandwidth.
/me makes note to copy some of those textures to the PVR-TC test suite...
