Usually you can access any router under 192.168.1.1 (from the webbrowser). It should open a password screen (it should be set to the default password mentioned in the manual or the default password could be already entered automatically).

In the webinterface you have to open the usual PSN ports. Dont forget to give your PS3 a static IP address beforehand.

You can find the basics of setting up routers at http://portforward.com/.

I use 192.168.2.1 and opens a password screen like you said but the god damn password and username is nowhere to be found.

It is not in my manual or any site over the internet!.

Have you tried password or the login id as the password for the router?

Try googling: Allied Telesis +default password

I tried them on the password window appearing after I put the ip adress on the address bar, but nothing seems to happen.

It is starting to piss me off. Actually I am pissed off with my provider for not giving me any password or the option anywhere to access my router.

Well, you're left with three options then: Either you try contacting your provider (and ask for the password) or you try to reset the router (which would set the password to default pass; you'd have to try the default list again) or last but not least you just resort to cracking the router password.

You mean trying the list in the links above? For some stupid reason my router is nowhere to be found. I tried them but nothing worked.

I hope my provider gives me the password otherwise I d be really pissed

edit: btw some say Telnet.

Do I have to access the router through telnet to add the passwords?

That's why I said you might have to reset the router; i.e. somebody has already set a different password.

AFAIK only fairly old routers use a telnet based configuration interface. Since your router opens a prompt dialogue when accessed by your webbrowser, I'd say the chances are very slim that your router needs to be configured via telnet.

How do I reset it though when I dont know the password to begin with?

Linksys routers default to username = leave it blank, password = admin

Try that.

You'd be surprised how many people's routers you can access using "admin" as the password.

Nope, doesnt work.

Is your ISP Prime Tel?

There's an installation guide I found here.

Yep thats the provider but thats the manual on how to enable your computer to connect wirelessly. Doesnt say anything about how to access the router's settings though

Default Button [ rear panel button ]
DO NOT USE. This device has been configured by PrimeTel and pressing the Default button will reset the device to the manufacturer's configuration, which will make it inoperable with your PrimeTel service.
Resetting is not the best way in this case , I would call customer service and ask for the password if I were you ...

Oh man. Thanks. I ll try call them. But it really pisses me off that they completely omitted to give me the password and username to set my settings the way I like to.
