my second phone/tablet game, Blackjack Girls!

So I recently put out another app, a blackjack game called Blackjack Girls. You basically play blackjack with video dealers. It's for both Windows 8 and iOS, the iOS version works on both iPad and iPhone. Links for either version are on my very basic company page here:

The iOS version is just one app, it's free with one dealer and her alternate outfit but you can pay to unlock the other 8 dealers. The Windows 8 version is split into two apps, a free version with one dealer and her alternate outfit and a paid version with all 8 dealers. Give it a whirl and let me know what y'all think!

So it's an app featuring ample-bosomed girls with deep cleavages, with sad pervy men as the target audience...? :p

They look like pornstars.... not that I would recognize any.... :nope:

Is it on the Windows Phone 8 app store?

I haven't ported it to Windows Phone yet, it's something I mean to get around to at some point. I wrote the original Win 8 version and had some friends port it to iOS. I did a quick namespace change and recompile for Windows Phone but couldn't get the videos to play, that's where I stopped. Another friend was trying to get an Android version together but Android is turning out to be somewhat more complicated so that's on hold at the moment.

Is that strip blackjack??? :p

Only in the outtake videos :)

Well...that's because they are :) But they are all toned down for the app, I was worried that the app stores would reject anything even remotely alluring so the girls dressed down and didn't go crazy on the emotions. Hence in the app they just look like regular girls, nice and simple.

I'm going to have to check this out. I haven't played a card game typically associated with gambling (on the computer that is) since Strip Poker on the Apple ][e! :D

Did you get the porn stars from your porn sites? :p

Yeah, although to be more correct about it my sites are not really porn, they are more fetish. I just set aside an hour on my typical video shoots to film some of the girls for the app. I would quickly convert my dinning room table to a blackjack table and film. It usually took between 30 to 60 minutes per girl of filming. It's far too expensive to book a girl just for blackjack, so I was able to make this possible by piggybacking it on my regular video shoots. The main thing was to just tone the girls down a bit as they tend to be very affectionate, which really isn't compatible with app stores. Once we got that sorted and picked a reasonably tame outfit then it was smooth sailing from there.

Incidentally the iOS version is doing decently well, more than the Win8 version although that is to be expected. Although the conversion rate difference is pretty dramatic, around 5% to 10% conversion to paid on the iOS version, and 20% to 45% conversion to paid on Win8.

Very interesting. I wonder if the conversion rate is just because there's less apps in the Windows Marketplace? Or because jailbreaking isn't as prevalent for the closed garden that the Windows Marketplace runs in.

So things like having hot chicks walk in on guys playing 'dungeons and dragons' and saying 'can I play? Only lets make it strip dungeons and dragons'. :p Well I don't wanna pry but that was the funniest thing I could come up with in 2 minutes so forgive me.

What are the sales numbers like? I would buy it myself on Windows 8 but I have to wait until I get somewhere where I'm not being charged 10c a megabyte.

I think most likely due to less apps on the Win8 marketplace. For comparison, there's over 500+ blackjack apps on the Apple store whereas there's just a handful on the Win 8 store. The Apple one costs more as well, $5 for Apple version and $3 for Win 8 version.

Nothing big, around $300/mt for the Win 8 version and $700/mt for the Apple version. I split the Apple revenues with my friends that ported it so the game in total pulls in just $650/mt to me. It's not much but that can change if the app gets noticed. So for example if some website with high traffic puts the game on their "best of" type list, or something like that then sales could spike.

Something interesting that I just thought of. If the rumors are true that Microsoft may include the Modern UI app store in the next Xbox, we may see Joker454 working on and releasing games playable on console. ;)

He'd be full circle developing games for consoles again. :D

Lol, sort of I guess, just doing the indie thing. Definitely never going back to actual game development though, my quality of life now is miles better having left that gig. I am hoping Microsoft confirms that the 720 runs Windows 8 apps, then I'll definitely port it over.
