Launch X360's warranty extended to one year for Systems built before 1/1/06

also supposedly refunding repair costs to those who have had repairs for launch systems.

also allowing purchase of extended warranty until Nov 06 for launch systems and allowing Ext warranty on systems replaced under this promotion

also some info here

and yes I know this does not apply to most of Europe but for NA, we get screwed with our little 90 day crap. ;)

Well I'm going to say it anyway:devilish: that in Finland we get two year warranty for free, although 399e=507$ so I quess it's not free after all.

Why dont they do this for all 360's? Mine broke but it was in warranty still so I got it repaired free. I come to find out now that its my HDD causing the issues (I Kept it over so I wouldnt lose my saves). Arggh!

I thought MS transfer all the saves when you send it in.

I think they improved the cooling between that time. I had a Nov 05 360 and it used to get pretty hot on top of the box (placed horizontally) after playing for a while. I now have a March 06 one and it barely feels warm on the top after the same amount of playing.

It's no louder, might even be quieter, so MS probably are using better fans now.

I think 90 days is unacceptable for a device like this. I don't think I'd buy it, but I also think 1 year is mandatory over here, so there you go.

well it's good customer service but it does make you wonder what the hell was going on prior to 1/1/06. ;)

I'm not sure if it is good customer service so much is an attempt at good public relations.

And I seem to recall them doing the exact same thing with Thompson equipped Xbox systems too.

well my definition of 'good customer service' is solving a problem, pure and simple.

Anyone can look good when nothing is going wrong... it's making a decision to satisfy a problem that defines customer service success to me.

I also run a small business that specializes in services so I can relate. ;)

oh and I agree PK, it also goes hand in hand with public relations.

Pff! We should all be getting at least a year warranty for expensive stuff like this like the Euros do. I refuse to pay extra for something that should be included in the first place.

I agree but unfortunately for us it is SOP for all electronics in NA so we have very little choice in the matter; unless we just choose to not buy any electronic devices at all.

Wow, I can't believe somebody actually thinks this way.

I've had mine since launch day and no problems yet. I never bought the warranty, though. If they're really letting people take out an extended warranty at this point, it would be pretty hard to pass up.
