I just watched the Snyder's Cut and I have one word to describe Whedon's movie: sabotage.
I blame him and executives forcing 2 hour runtime. Yet they let Aquaman be 2:23, an entire 1 hour too much for that movie.

I don't really buy it, that he always intended to use 4:3/IMAX for the whole movie and everywhere. But the Snyder Cut is definitvely not just a stupid open matte movie.
James Cameron loves (loved?) Super 35, https://theasc.com/magazine/dec97/titanic/pgs35/pg1.htm And this format gave him the opportunity to extract the best (widescreen) image. And c'mon: Thank Super 35 we can see Kristanna Loken's boobs in Temrinator 3 (16:9 and 4:3 version, but not in the widesreen version).
So, Superman‘s Black Suit is CGI.

I actually really liked the 4:3 ratio. If anything, I like that infinitely better than the super wide screen movies that add huge borders at the top and bottom of my screen. I feel I get more screen this way, if that makes sense?
The same as a 21:9 game looks on your monitor, which would be black bars on the side. And he's talking about watching movies on a TV, not a computer monitor on your desk.
LOL. This is the scene that caught my attention and encouraged me to stay engaged for 4 hours. All the blocking of automatic gun fire at real-time speeds really shows off the super human capabilities of these characters in a way that’s seem totally different than the tried and true methods (slow motion).
I didn’t even make it through the Whedon cut as it lost my attention about an half hour into the film.

Of course now that they see they can ride the wave and make more money from him they are starting to realize people really want the best versions of those movies as intended by the director. Not their Marvel wannabe sweetened for teenagers versions.

Right, so Justice League is legit art movie now that it is 4:3 and black&white.
I just turned the volume down, turned subtitles on, and played some old timey piano music. Not perfect, but a close approximation.
