If Sony can't have solid tech ready (hardware and software, I mean) they shouldn't rush into the release. I don't think anyone of their market base is going to jump the ship to N5 or Xbox 2 just because PS3 is not available the very same day, especially if they know the PS3 is around the corner bigger and badder than ever (and as we have all seen with the Dreamcast, Sony will make sure everybody knows that) If Nintendo and MS go for the end of 2005, they will have a solid one year window to release without much if any impact to their sales. Having said that, I very much doubt MS and Nin would be cutting their consoles' lives that short. Four years seems to be way too small lifetime judging by many people's opinions around forums. Actually, by pushing the release to end of 2005 Sony could potentially damage N and M's reputation, as it would force them to cut their consoles' lives short. Sony is the only one right now that could fair and square go for the 2005 release without anyone complaining, and they are the only one who can without damage wait for the 2006 release. They are in the extremely good position regarding this, and MS and Nintendo better put a lot of thought to what they will be doing regarding the release date.
