More rumors on NV28/NV30

Fair enough, I dont recall you calling the V5 'a dog' like other sites I could name ;)

Ben and Dave are correct.

Kyle,

I apologies if my parody offended you. It just that you posted 2 NV30 related "rumors" in a row despite the availability of the official information to the contrary, as 10 minute of research would have shown you. Perhaps you should pay more attention to company's conferences and less to these "reliable" sources.

Well hey, three guys at Beyond3d Forums said it was true so I guess that is the gospel.

NVIDIA will not confirm any of this at this time, so I guess it is not that official.

Hrm Kyle may very well be correct particularly if nvidia will not confirm it. Although I have heard that it was said at the CC I never really did hear it. This could be a very bad situation for nvidia. They may have had to redesign the nv30 to outperform the Radeon 9700. Who knows but I would have liked to hear the CEO at nvidia say that but given the lack of Audio Acrhives at nvidia.com well it makes it difficult. I have been there before and listened to the CC so I find this strange, *almost* fishy.

Anyhow I think that dispite what was said in the CC Kyle may be correct about the NV30.

Would be extremely strange for Nvidia to talk about DX9 and new OpenGL extensions if they were going to do a NV25+ AGP8x only this year. Public information from NVIDIA's Deep Fry Developer Conference last week. Since the event has already occurred, it's no longer on NVIDIA's developer site, however this information was freely available on their public developer site last week:

Don't worry Russ, I am frequently accused of being an NVIDIOT also. Now I am in the situation of defending ATI's choice of not putting branching into pixel shaders and having program limits, but this will soon be forgotten that I ever defended ATI (like my initial gushingly favorable comments about the 8500) and I will be seen as an NVIDIOT again.

Nothing you can say or do can convince a fanboy because rose colored glasses filter their world view. Once you've been classified, all negative comments about their card, and positive comments about the competitor's card are amplified, and the vice-versa case is supressed, so that you fit the mental model.

It's the same situation with staunch republicans or democrats. It's hard for the hardcore political types to conceive of an atheistic, gay, pro abortion republican, or a pro-free-market trade, religious, pro-life democrat. You either tow the party line, or you must be on the other side, there is no middle ground.

Well, I am not an investor. I make it a issue with the person that handles my finanacials that we not invest in any tech companies we report on, therefore reducing any type of conflict of interest that might arise.

I appreciate the fact that it NVIDIA has said that NV30 is taped out, but I have yet to see it produced here beyond rumor. Apparently you guys have the facts, and if so, I simply asked for them to be stated with proof.

Who said it? When? Where?

You guys are just repeating your own rumors in my opinion....

Kyle, niether am I an investor, but that doesnt stop me from listening to conference calls for following investment message boards to learn stuff about the 3D players - these are a good source of information. And as Reverend said before when a company official, such as the CEO, states something at an investment meeting or investors conference call then they usually had better be sure the information they give out is correct because if they give false information that influences they way investors buy/sell their shares then the SEC can land on them like a ton of bricks (so, it doesn't stop them from giving out false info, but it its it pretty foolish for them to do so).

So, honestly, if you want to actually follow the 3D scene then I would recommend that you do follow these sources as well as they can both be factual and revealing.

Thanks Dave, I will look into to following up on the 3D scene. Oddly enough, I did not see you spend 10 hours testing the R300 first hand this last week. Ironicly, I can almost asure you I have missed the rumor generated here because I was a bit more into the 3d scene than just sitting around listening for someone to hopefully say something that would make a difference.

Again, thanks for the pointer, I will look at getting into this "3d scene" thingy, if I can find it. Let me know when you get something up on the 9000 or 9700. I would be interested in what your thoughts are on the card....or at least the white paper.

On a serious note, we all manage our time the best we can. I look forward to your latest insights on investor relations, because I don't usually give a damn what those windbags have to say.
