Shinji Mikami Steps Down As Studio Head

Shinji Mikami has stepped down from his position as chief of Capcom's Production Studio 4, according to a report by a Japanese stock-market analyst. Mikami has not left the studio -- he remains there in his capacity as a producer -- but his new role offers less control over and input into the studio's entire slate of projects.
Possible reasons for the move are twofold. Officially, Mikami wants to concentrate on his role as a producer, putting more involvement and effort into his own games. However, rumor also has it that the low profitability of some of Mikami's recent projects -- such as P.N.03 -- was also a factor.

Capcom is still recovering from the announcement of a significant loss incurred in the past fiscal year, which resulted in the cancellation of 18 as-yet-unnamed titles. The publisher plans to clarify many details of its situation when it officially announces its annual results in a few days -- check back soon for the full report.

Excellent news. From what I know, he needed to come back down to earth. For example, his sudden rage against PS2 because of RE failing to sell more than KH was laughable. RE0 failing to meet sales expectations and P.N. 03Â´s failure at retail (barely scratching 20k units sold) were the definite blows I suppose.
Hopefully, if Capcom does decide to create a DMC3, IÂ´ll pray that Hideki Kamiya (who is a part of Production Studio 4) is once again the person in charge of directing it.

And of course you just forgot to mention the far below expectations of Chaos Legion, and the slightly off mark DMC2. Right?

Capcom should keep doing basically what they are, but make sure their "big" games are actually good games. All four games they mentioned as selling below expectations were rated fairly pooprly compared to other games from Capcom.

it wouldnt hurt if they started taking their hands out of their a$$e$ and start working properly. i mean come on the Street Fighter series has been milked to death. wouldnt mind if they upgraded the graphics to make it look decent, hell Guilty Gear x (and X2) look 10x better than any CapcomVSWhatever....

and don't get me started on the RE milking....

they f**ked up DMC, the Onimusha series is one of the only decent things coming out of Capcom...

and do not get me started on how badly they convert to PAL format.... can u say slowdown+bigfatblackborders.... and Square is another one who does not care AT ALL about european gamers.
