Rambus had some major patents before they entered JEDEC. Some companies are using these patents without paying royalties to Rambus. Thus, certain patents are being stolen. As for what happened during the time that Rambus was in JEDEC, it should be discussed in another thread.
The JEDEC members have not had a very trustworthy history. In this enviroment, it is tough to do RandD.
