Mega Man collection

Regular
My most anticipated game of 2004 is of course The Mega Man collection, coming May 3rd. I was just wondering if anyone knows if it'll have regular saving or the old Mega Man style passwords?

Which console? I loved Megaman, even the X series. :)

Its on GC and PS2 and it includes Mega Man 1 to 8, plus 2 never before released arcade games (never before released in the U.S anyway).

Oh really?

Which X game did you like best...?

And do you agree that X7 was horrid?

But the one of the 2 arcade games were actually released in the US :)

Mega Man 2-The Power Fighters (July 8 1996, Capcom CPS2 hardware).

I played X, X2, and X3. But I never did get beyond that. hehe. I'd say I liked X2 the best. But then, I also remember liking Megaman 2 the best out of the originals. Or was it 3? It was one of those.

All I know is, I had fond memories of that series. :)

Mmm... Filled with MegaManny goodness!

And though I didn't play much of X7 yet, I didn't have the negative reaction everyone else seems to have to it. I at least admire the direction they're trying to take it, and it wasn't an abysmal effort by any stretch. The first attempt would most certainly end up being slower and clunkier than the progression of other MM's, of course, but it's seeking to add more and really change the way MM operates and look to new levels. It wasn't as good of a translation as, say, Lament of Innocence was for Castlevania, but there was still plenty of fun to be had, and it didn't lose the classic stylings and funky fights. ^_^

Get X6.

And while X7 wasn't the worst game ever, it was too bug riddled, had more cheesy death opportunities than X6 (and that's saying something), and I was actually begging for a return of X6's Nightmares after seeing how easily Reploids died in X7... >_>

Hey, they have to do SOMETHING to make the games hard. ;) It seems to revolve around "cheesy death" until you figure out what the pattern is.

I don't know if those megaman arcade games were ever released in the States, but some computer arcade machine with like 100 old arcade game roms was. Forget the name of it, but at one arcade I was at they had it on a greater than 50" screen, and they had a built in bench to the cabinent. Probably stripped some old arcade game from it, like a fighter or a shooter, and put in the emulated arcade thing. Those Megaman arcade games are fun, they're a bit like super smash bros, and unlike the boss fights in real megaman games, I don't have to restart 20,000x to beat them! The arcade I was at had the machine in a room full of 80s stuff, including, of course, a bunch of other old arcade games(spy hunter, super mario bros, donkey kong, galaga, asteroids, star wars and more!), and some 80s posters and a disco ball with disco lights.

At another arcade I was at they had the emulated arcade machine again, but they gutted my killer instinct cabinet! I had been trying to get good at it again too, and then they have to do that....

I played X and X2 all the way through ( I never did find the body armour in X2 though) as well as part of X3 and I would say X2 was probably the best, X3 pretty much sucked for me.

Cheesy death meaning I'm making a bog standard jump between platforms, and suddenly get nailed in an unrecoverable fall just before reaching the ledge, thus killing me. Note that the enemy in question was offscreen.

Or like, I'm simply moving toward an enemy to attack (I never use anyone but Zero), and get hit just like normal (because Zero is necessarily quite suicidal), and mysteriously fly off to one side in yet another unrecoverable fall and die.

Or, alternately, I dash forward to dash-jump, and for some reason my character does NOT jump (despite my pressing X numerous times before the dash ended), I dash off a ledge and find myself totally unable to recover... and die. (in previous entries, if you dash off a ledge, your dash ends the moment you leave the edge and you can still latch on and kick back up)

So does anyone know how the save feature works on these games? I just read the review at IGN and they didn't say anything about it. I'll still get the game regardless if I have to enter passwords instead of a regular save, but it sure would save me a lot of time and frustration.

I got the game yesterday and it has a save feature in it. One thing about it, which I like and dislike, is that you can't play MegaMan II until you beat MegaMan I and you can play MegaMan III until you beat MegaManII etc. Other than that it's great. For $30 it's a great buy, I have never played MegaMan I, V, VII, or VIII, so it's great to be able to play games I never played on older systems without having to find them in momandpop stores or trying to find them on E-Bay. And MegaMan I is extremely hard.
