Massachusetts court: Ban on gay marriage unconstitutional

Wait so you'd be quite willing to discriminate against a person just because of their sexual preference?

Isn't that what people accuse anti-gay marriage people of?

SB

I know you're being pedantic to push a point, but it's misdirected. Yeah, I'm actually perfectly willing to discriminate, for instance against pedosexuals.

Gay marriage on the other hand is just a regular marriage. They're not asking for any rights that any other union of 2 consenting adults doesn't already have.

Polygamy is of course a different proposition. Not that I particularly mind them getting married either.

What do you mean he's not liberal John, didn't you hear he's so liberal he's a socialist!

Gads I hate politicians, all of them 'cept for Al Frankin right now I think.

Cool, hopefully polygamous marriages will soon be allowed also. :p

If the gays can marry how they wish (nothing against it), I don't see why the Mormons can't marry how they wish (not a Mormon :p).

SB

Personally, I don't see why people can't get let other people do what they want as consenting adults. Marriage is basically just a private contract among consenting adults. The issue was when religion aka the state got involved in olden times. If the state wants to recognize all private marriage contracts then fine, if not, it shouldn't recognize any of them with benefits.

Agreed, I don't see where the government has any place in any of this, except where there's a possibility of public safety issues (genetic defects for close relatives), and even that's stretching it a bit, IMO.

Unfortunately, I don't see the government giving up any power now that we've given them so freaking much of it. Definitely not by the Democrats who are vocal about wanting even more power for the government, and I'm skeptical of the Republicans even though they say they want limited government.

It was the Repubs who started the Constitutional crisis that's ongoing (thanks to Obama's complete abandonment of his campaign rhetoric).
