So that is your definition of me overreacting? "this whole 'one title' thing is bogus."?

Are you kidding me? That was a very calm, non aggressive post. Lets remember who started flinging insults around, it wasn't me. Maybe you should just calm down a little?

Don't make me come in here and separate you two! Any more of this, AND NO DESSERT TONIGHT.

Really, pissing match called off on account of there are 140 or so posts in this thread without it, and others might like to keep talking about the subject without it getting locked. So knock it off already.

No more fractional cerebellums, knotted knickers, etc, or off comes the belt.

eventhough I am not a marketeer, I have studied my share of marketing when I was back in college.
I am very aware of the 4P's, and I already stated than in my opinion it is the first P (product) that needs refinement for the japan market. i.e. games.
the other P's are easier to handle, and for a corporation like m$ are not even worth talking about as possible problems.

Oh io agree, i didn't mean to challenge you, i think my post was more of an addition to your points :)

as you know good games are not made in a day, and even more so, great games take more time and resources to make.
we have known for quite a while that m$ is "cooking" in japan, so maybe in a few days at Tokyo we'll get a chance to taste what they've been preparing.

Hopefully, i just need one word (maybe a couple) and i'm off to buy a 360 :D

I dont believe that you are correct when saying that "but by that time PS3 will have a FF and a MGS under the belt"
as far as we know, the time for Blue Dragon is this year, holidays 2006, and Lost Odyssey is first quarter 2007.
FF on PS3 in my opinion wont hit the market until 2008.

Yeah that was probably a wrong time line in my head.

*snip*

Edit: I see Geo has already addressed the situation. Certain posters should really get a grip though :)

What high quality japanese titles did XBOX have other than Team Ninja games? It had zero JRPG's for starters. Regardless, I'm not arguing this will sell 360's, just correcting LB's misrepresentation of the game library when LO does launch.
Well, xbox360 had a few japanese titles like RR6, DOA4 and the JRPG enchanted arms but they were just drops of water in a hot desert. I wonder if LO will be something diferent.

so, there are reports of people that are actually in the show, that eventhough L.O. and B.D. are "hidden", there are actually people that are waiting in lines to see them.
they said something like "90 minutes wait time"

I dont believe this. out of realm of possibility.

Maybe there is a glimmer of hope for Microsoft in Japan. There definitely seems to be quite a bit of genuine interest in the title.

this and Blue Dragon have a chance to start making a difference in Japan.

"It's all about the games." ;)
Good move by MS but don't get overly to optimistic mon ami this was the only next gen RPG playable @ TGS , so that could explain the line

in relation to this subject, here are the recent news from the land of the rising sun:

Microsoft's Xbox 360 sales sunk to a new low in recent Japan sales charts.

Media Create Co. on Friday (this friday) reported that the Xbox successor sold 928 units in Japan.

The 1-year-old system was outsold by hardware like the Nintendo DS, PSP, PS2, Game Boy Advance SP, and Game Boy Micro in the same period.

The Xbox 360 typically sells around 1,100 units in week-to-week hardware figures.

Microsoft this week is showcasing 110 new high-definition games, including the highly anticipated RPG Blue Dragon, Infinite Undiscovery and Namco's RPG Eternal Sonata.

To help boost sales it will introduce the Xbox 360 Core System to Japan for $256 U.S.

In addition, the company will drop the Xbox 360 HD DVD drive to Japan for $170 on Nov. 17, the day Sony Corp. releases the Blu-ray equipped Playstation 3.

Microsoft has sold the least amount of Xbox 360 units in Japan. The machine has sold well in the U.S. and Europe markets on strong action and sports offerings.

nothing short of spectacular, right? :D
we will see if there will be any kind of impact by m$ showings the following weeks.

Believe it, I waited 90 min for playing Lost Odyssey and there were worse waiting lines in the TGS. You had 20 min to play the demo (16 persons at the same time).

95+% of people who went to the TGS only saw signs of Lost Odyssey and no media.

While certainly a positive sign for MS, I wouldn't read too much into the 90 minute wait. Have any of you actually seen photos of the show? No room to move, anywhere, just hordes and hordes and hordes of people. There were 2+ hour lines for S-E phone game demos.

forget the 90min wait line!!

I wont ask for translation this time. I learned to read signs in japanese!

I really cant understand ANYONE spending 160 minutes on a line to see a game in a show full of games.

I guess microsoft should bring more demo pods for the people since before the minute that lines hit the 90 minute thing.

so even if the genuine interest was there, I doubt that exposure was sufficient.
dum move imo. or even better, missed move.

I seem to get a lot of red stuff on the post above.
funny, as it was just some hours ago I was trying to understand how the rating system works here.

anyway, I got a nameless comment that said:
25-Sep-2006 13:44: you seem to be trolliing
I read that only senior members can leave negative reputation.
senior members are described almost as teachers, correct?

so I was wondering where is the trolling part.. its more of a point of refference for the future.
its not like am I against microsoft or sony. in this forum, I am a consumer. and a student

Pointing out that X360 is selling like crap in Japan is not trolling, it's pure and simple fact.

People get defensive on here when negative stuff is said about their favourite toy, it's a way of life around here trust me, and you don't need to be THAT senior to be able to give negative rep. The only consolation is that negative rep power is much weaker than the positive rep powers (a third in fact).
