can anyone comment on what they think of this card? im hoping there is a price drop with the next generation cards coming out..

I've got that same model here @ the house. This was the same unit that I reviewed over @ nvnews. Personally, I have taken a strong liking to this card...much more so than I would have honestly envisioned when the GF4 was initially launched. This isn't an engineering sample, and it has been clocked @ 320/650 since I got it. On the 2D side, I have been impressed with it as well.

Looks like 4200 is the best buy for your dollar but it all depends on how high you want t go with performance. My belief is that the 4400 is a great mid-range card (midrange?) because of its overclocking capability (especially with the Leadtek, love that heatsink). I have mine running at 315/680 with no artifacts.

But pascal is defintely right, the 4200 has a magificent performance for its low cost.

I think the Ti 4200 is your best bet, and if you don't mind overclocking, then it really is one of the best options for a budget card.

If you can wait maybe a month or so, ATI's next generation budget card might also be a good option. Ofcourse it won't be on the shelves in a month, but hopefully we will know the details by then. I am waiting for the high end card personally ;)

I have the Leadtek 4400 and it's worked perfectly. The heatsync (with 2 fans) is heavy making it the heaviest card I've owned--but that is more of a trivia issue.

To be honest I've never tried OCing, that isn't my ball of wax--but I know I can probably do it if I want to in the future.

I think the biggest question is 4200 or 4400. The 4200 is quite a bit cheaper. I guess it comes down to available $$$.

Good luck.

I have the OEM model (just an nVidia reference card) and it's currently running unmodified at 310/720MHz. Very, very nice indeed. :)

I was going to install ramsinks/a GPU H20 block, but now I don't think I'll bother and save them for an R300.

MuFu.

thanks

thanks a lot for the replies they were helpfull..i think i will go for the 4400 and overclock it..
