Well, major if the launch was initially said to be this spring.
So for example an autumn launch in Japan wuold mean a major delay in EU ;)

Not necessarily. But if you ever thought Europe was getting it in Spring..;)

Anyway, Gamesindustry.biz is jumping on the bandwagon, but I've got an awful feeling some people are getting their wires crossed (since they seem to be assuming the conference on wednesday is one for the press, when we know now that it is not):

I'm thinking maybe the event is only for Japanese Press. And that Gamespot got denied on the basis that they are American.

While the situation surrounding you changes? What's wrong with that, it will hit it eventually

The Feb event is a fake-out move in the football sense.

    It's on

Well, it seems. According to Jim Cordeira of Gaming-Age:

    http://www.ga-forum.com/showthread.php?t=89634&page=3&pp=50

On the gaming-age forum, another poster working in Japan said that apparently the meeting also isn't just for developers but press will be there too.

So..might be a little more likely

I am not sure WHY they would do this though. Much as I would despise waiting til e3, they might as well.

This tells me Sony must be feeling the heat.

I doubt they'd announce Japanese launch plans at E3..

Not to draw parallels that may not apply, but Sony announced PS2's launch details 6 months before it arrived. 6 months from March is September - an often rumoured launch month for PS3 in Japan. So you never know :p

They also were, for a long time, planning something for Feb, so obviously they had wanted all along to make announcements prior to E3. Even if they'll now come a little late (hopefully).

Come on man eventually they were going to say something sometime in life. You make it sound like they are only saying something in March to shoot back at MS and the people posting on internet websites.:???:

    Same...

And someone refresh my memory... when was anything amazing supposed to be shown in February.

I remember seeing the timeline but IIRC something was said... it was pretty much nothing we didnt know or hype (I forget which) but it did make an apperance in February at... *I Forget The Name Of The Showing* I think it was CES.

And it is amazing that people who are expecting something from this as well, we probably be the first one claiming Sony let them down again.

I figured Inane was being sarcastic :p "The Feb event" was one of the most speculated upon PS3-related things for the past couple of months. Sony said at the Playstation Meeting last July that there would be a "Playstation Festival" in Feb, that's where all that came from. There was an officially announced basis for expectation of that event.

As for Wednesday, it seems a number of different people/sites are now pinning their colours to the mast as far as a PS3 announcement or announcements go. The biggest direct indication of that is that the Untold Legends screenshots and press release are embargoed till the 15th. It's possible it's sitting on its own in that regard, but one would have to ask why that game at that time? And there is an event of some kind taking place the same day in Japan, with the potential for "announcements" as per the comments of Koei's president - coincidence? It's still not clear though if that event will be a press one or not - Gamespot has reported it won't be open to the press while there are claims elsewhere that it will be.

I guess we shall see what happens..:)
