Am i the only one to think this game is absolutely gorgeous, it screams quality from every pixel, from every decibel of sound. And i can't freaking wait to put my hands on it...
The animation is fantastic, this is one of the very few games i've seen when 2 characters hugging doesn't result in the usual "sleeves going through the other character" and similar clipping problems.
The combat also seems to have been changed (see: better), and it also looks fantastic, kinda like ZOE2 sword fights. Lots of stuff on screen at once.
And that scene at the end with hundreds of Shadow things attacking Sora and the others... Quality.

Sorry about the kiddy comments, but i've been waiting for a REAL quality title ever since finishing KH. And Ico only gets you so far.

Expect a similarly gay thread when i see more of Ico2

*completly agrees*

Though we Euros won't play it till 2006 anyways :( and be treated to another quality PAL conversion by square *dreams of black bars ond oval circles*

Isn't the moon an oval anyway? I thought that was the way it's supposed to be.

Anyway, KH was better than most Square PAL conversions, if i remember correctly... No borders, i think, or at least not the size of PAL FFX (those criminals)... The game was so magical i didn't really notice, and it had slowdowns anyway so the PAL issue wasn't the main concern.

Between Auron kicking ass, Mickey Mouse in the ninja outfit and then that "FOR FRODO" moment at the end of the vid my excitement level just went over the top for this game. I loved the first one and it's good to see that they are sticking with the same general concept for the second one.

Thanks for the tip, but I'll pass. I don't have an unlimited cash supply, and I'd rather spend my moolah on games that don't have fuggin Goofy in 'em. :?

I'd consinder playing this game if it didn't have fuggin' Disney characters in it. Blech! :?

I'm not a Disney fan either (give me Chuck Jones and Tex Avery characters or even modern day adult toons like Family Guy) and I've never played any FF game.

So while I liked the look of KH and some of the outlines of the plot, I got sick of that game real quick because the gameplay became really repetitive real quick.

Square should look into copying Ratchet and Clank gameplay, with the different mini games.

Kingdom Hearts is a great game that is one of my favorite RPG's (if you can call it that) of this generation. It is light hearted fun that is rare these days especially coming from Square. I'm anticipating it very much as it is in my top 5 wanted list. The Disney characters don't bother me at all since the game revolves around them. Square has done an amazing job incorporating them into the storyline and the environment. Some may think it is too kiddy but the storyline of the first was much darker themed than most Nintendo games. The game is a blast and the next one will be just as good I am sure.

Well, for all the Disney haters, there is this little thing about the KH games... Which is something unusual and is one of the best aspects of the game:
Those little cuddly cutey coloury characters suffer. The game was much darker than most people who didn't buy it think. That is what kept me so glued to the screen, how the dark plot incorporated into the weird Square-Disney universe that is Kingdom Hearts.
When the evil is so big that the bad guys from Disney are nothing compared to it, then it's all fun to me.
I just love epic games, and this is a hell of an interesting epic.

Of course it's not for everyone.

Agreed. Kingdom Hearts was a very, very dark game that used the contrast of colourful Disney characters to underscore this. It's like the old Grimm Brother's fairytales :p I don't think I've felt as emotionally devestated in a video game as when you lose the keyblade and your "friends" desert you!

Anyone who skips Kingdom Hearts because of the Disney content is quite the fool.

edit:

just saw the trailer and WOW. My only hope is that Squenix is able to use the high poly models more often, so it won't be like a KH 1 / FF X debacle where 90% of the game DOESNT have facial animation!

Still, Tetsuya Normura is a very, VERY talented director. Can't wait for FF 7 AC!

Just saw the trailer. Is the scene at the end in real time?? It certainly looks like it, and if it is....WOW, that was shockingly good looking, the scale of that scene was enormous. The new air combos look great, as does Auron.

I only hope Square manages to improve the storyline, KH had a very disjointed storyline (I had little attachment to Sora and pals because of that).

Consistency in graphics is also a concern I have. I hated how I would look at an incredible looking cutscene and after being amazed by the animation...the next one had stiff characters with 100 polys on them. :?

That's what i was wondering too, that last scene with hundreds of shadows looks realtime, or at least all the models are the same used in realtime cut scenes, but it could be a prrendered video of it using the same models to make it look closer to how the game looks in reality. Cause that's a whole lot of people in there....
The real FMVs from the first game look a hundred times better than that, so it's not really clear...

I had some trouble with the story in the first one too, it got a little bit complicated, obviously not helped by the fact that there are literally hundreds of characters present in the game, from Disney's films and Square's games. All of them.
