I've just been playing the (online MP) public beta, and am pretty impressed so far. This is actually a portable Killzone, and it looks and plays really well. Right now I've just been using the analog sticks, and that works great so far. I played two warzone matches, until at the end of the last one my (already low) battery ran out. Only downside I can see so far really is that the player-count is low, which feels a little weird in an online Killzone game, but the maps have been well-designed for it and so far the fights have been pretty good ... match-making was fast and effortless for me as well, with no connection drops or anything. Hope the single player campaign is good too, then finally the Vita seems to have a must have FPS!

I played another match tonight. It's good fun, the levels are really well designed, lots of little nooks and crannies to investigate, and there is a lot of visual flair. I was in a very bad matchup, with three low level players against three high level players, but still had a lot of fun.

I'm still getting to grips with some of the basics though - don't know how to melee yet, or throw a grenade. Don't understand the hacking either.

I like that you can pick up tags from downed enemies, or salvage them from friends.

The graphics are stunning, if a little harder to focus on when the screen is about a foot away from your face. In fact I'd say Mercenary is a bit more impressive than Shadow Fall considering that it approximates PS3 quality on a mobile device with added reflections that weren't in the PS3 Killzones. I'll probably change my tune once I see Shadow Fall live.

That video is bound to sell a few copies ...

Stellar job Graham & co!

That video was awesome!! That PVR chip can some damned and fancy stuff, way to go with the Vita. On the pre-order list now!

How powerful is the Vita chip honestly? I know it's running at lower resolution than tablets, but I really wonder where the chip fits in... it clearly has some meat to it.

When I tried to figure it out long ago I thought something like the iPad 3 chip, but with the benefit of being able to code to the metal?

The multiplayer was actually surprisingly fun! Pretty mediocer fps gameplay, but playing it on the Vita laying on the couch somehow makes it much better!

There's a whole discussion on that topic here. Short version is close to iPad3's SoC, but different in different ways. I don't think the real specifics are known.
