I've been banned from using a computer

I showed my friend how to send a net send message, I typed it in, he pulled the trigger.

It said, "fuk u".

10 minutes later my teacher brought me into his office and lectured me about doing this stupid stuff.

He also said that he would expect someone new to computers to do this sort of thing.

How was I caught out?
Well, the command "net send * fuk u" tends to send out a message to everyone connected to the server.

That server was connected to every campus in Victoria.

Needless to say I had my account suspended pending an investigation from what I was told.
I will get a full answer of what will happen about my account tomorrow.

Best possible case:
Warning.

Mid case:
Have access to computers only if I have the teacher's permission.

Worst case:
In before the lock and ban on all computer systems in the campus. :bleh:

Boy was I stupid, I only loaded the gun. WTF should I take responsibility?

Of course last Friday I did send out a message to every campus saying "ass".
However I was not warned about it.

Needless to say, I did take full responsibility.

Anyway, now there is only hope.

Damn that sucks! I suppose it's too late now, but couldn't put the blame onto your friend? Afterall, he was the one that pulled the trigger - surely, he knew what the command would do and the possible consequences If anything, you should get a warning and he should get the ban, if at all. On second thought, the school should have had the command disabled to beginn with.

I remember having fun with 'net send' for quite some time as our school got our new computers running. It wasn't long until they disabled it... Haven't been there since then and last I heard, they basically disabled everything possible to stop students from downloading, installing and doing all sorts of things...

I almost lost my job/got cautioned over something similar 18 months ago.
I was using my account to show a class how to use the integrated tools at disposal for some major tech support company and they have net send builtin. Someone thought it would be funny to reply to a genuine information message with something stupid like "kiss my ass, bananas please" but using my account (only cos I was the only one in the class with an active account).

I was called in for a 'meeting' luckily the 3 guys that did send the message owned up and got a spanking but I still felt like I had been taken advantage of (especially after I let the lecturer know that I would not take responsibility if someone messes around with the computer logged in under my username.. yet I still got blamed initially - I wasnt even in the damn room!).

Serves me right for trying to do the class a favour.
