Is GTA4 size (in GB) going to make a difference?

I have no doubts that GTA4 will be a HUGE game - in terms of Gb on the disk. I am not sure if it will fit on a single DVD9 - so for the 360 you will probably need multiple disks, or to loose some assets or/and quality to fit in a DVD9.

Are there any "thoughts" on this?

I doubt 1 dvd is enough to fit gta4 on if they plan on making the game as big, or bigger as gta: sa. SA already fills up 1 dvd right? so making everything ''HD" will defenitly make everything alot bigger. Games like GTA4 will probably be one of the few games that really show the use of bluray in games.

I have no doubts that GTA4 will be a HUGE game - in terms of textures on the screen. I am not sure if it will fit in 224 MB minus the MSAA framebuffer size - so for the PS3 you will probably need blurrier textures, to lose some textures or/and resolution to fit in the available memory.

Are there any "thoughts" on this?

In other words, don't try to resurrect an age-old debate, frequently leading to locked threads, just disguising it under a "GTA4" banner.

Yes, please lock this thread. We can do this discussion again when Rockstar actually announces any relevant information.

That's a bit harsh to say to someone who only joined in Dec last year (unless you know they've been here before...)

@ Baten : GTA is a huge game in scope, but the assets weren't enormous. IIRC they're all <4.7 GB on PS2, and smaller on XB with texture compression. GTA:SA was 2.8 GB. (List of XB game sizes). I expect a next-gen GTA could be fit onto DVD9 fairly comfortably.
What you really want to know though is how disc size affects game size, which is a topic you can search for (and which assen thinks you're deliberately trying to raise surreptitiously.)
