The fact that M$ stops supporting win 98 by the end of june 2003 dosn´t render this OS unusable, and there will be Dx9 for win 98. Of course Ati should supply drivers that work under 98 - any less would be a disaster.
Personally I have never had stability issues in win 98SE, at least not more so than in XP, and I do have some apps I actually use that won´t run under XP. To name just two: a somewhat old version of Gigasampler and PcAnywhere 9. Oh yes, I can´t get Sound2midi to run under XP either.
Besides, when XP gets messed up, it´s really handy to be able to run the old 98SE HD to solve problems.
And I don´t want to be forced into using standard VGA res.
