Following on from a discussion previously between Democoder and DaveBaumann in a loosely related thread I thought this revelation was quiter fitting.
Even though the system motherboard and CPU does not exist yet and we are talking about 'rumours' the fact that an Int GPU can perform so well in what is known to be a GPU limited benchmark is amazing to me. It is pretty much assumed the VS will be relying on CPU power but even then it is the performance the end user experiences that matters most (as well IQ etc).
If this news has any bearing on real world performance in DX8/9 type games then the 915G is not to be compared with a 5200 class card but something more akin to a 5700/5900XT or 9600/9600XT level....
Apologies if this has been posted before..
Sources at a motherboard manufacturer tell us that they have done some preliminary testing on this baby - the configuration is a 915G with a Prescott 3.6GHz Intel CPU (the 560), and two Samsung DDR 400 memory sticks, amounting to 512MB.
The system uses early graphics drivers but even using these, it scores a 3DMark01 score of 5,340.
