I need a small DVD-Player with HDMI

We are getting 4 DVD-players for the work but we have constraints. the DVD-player is going to be installed in a column (which where the LCD-TV will be attached) so the standard horizontal DVD-players will not fit (unless someone can come up with an idea ?). we are currently looking for either a vertical or a small DVD player that fits in there.

it's kinda hard to be illustrated here without clear pictures , but in summary a small or vertical DVD-player with HDMI preferably a good quality one that supports most formats & cost is not an issue.

* also another question if i just picked up a standard horizontal dvd-player & used it in vertical position, does it really hurt or corrupts the DVDs after a while or shortens the player's life cycle ??

oh & i'm open to any new ideas or suggestions.

I'm not sure there are any vertical DVD players still on the market aside from the consoles. I know there's been some, but I'm not sure they are still available anywhere. I don't know if there's a portable dvd player with HDMI.

I'm not sure if a PC could be rigged to suit your needs?

I don't know how slim would work for you, you can probably find something like that with divx for a bit more.

Have you considered simple small solid-state memory players? Really cheap ones will do a simple timed slideshow of images (which is basically what a powerpoint is) with transition effects. Spend a few hundred for a decent HD version which can also support flash, wmv etc to spruce up your content your playing on the panels. It's basically a poor mans version of digital signage.

You can even buy just 1 and get a video splitter to distribute the signal to 4 separate panels via utp, if the placement of the panels allows it, and they are displaying the same content.

And if you need to update the content, just take out the CF card/SD card whatever your using, throw it in the PC and update the files.

AlphaWolf : Yep i checked for vertical ones & i couldnt find any. the problem is not with the slimness but rather width. using a PC means connections & a need for more room which will get us back to square1.

Malo : I considered the idea of using the SDHC cards for our slideshows (The LCD TVs we are getting do have SD card slot) , but i'm not sure if they can play videos ? i asked the guys there & they didnt seem to know if thats possible or not!

Davros : That portable dvd-player might be the last option , but for the time being we need a player with HDMI.

thanks for the responses so far guys!

Well the one I linked was also only 12 inches wide, whats your limit on width?

Actually I was referring to something like this. It doesn't have HDMI but there might be something around similar that has DVI output for HDMI.

AlphaWolf : Too tight around 4 inches!

Malo : Yep that looks interesting esp that it could be used in any position. i'll check more into that , thanks!
